The idea that players can cancel games for personal feels is a bad precedent that would only get abused harder and harder as time goes by. Death is part of life, fucking deal with it.
Sorry Pick, We live in a world where no one wants to deal with reality.

Or we live in a world where people choose to deal with reality. Sure, death happens every day, but not to your coworker, roommate or neighbor.

Football isn't war. Not everyone feels the same, no judgement on those who think everyone should turn the page and continue. Sure, he didn't actually die, but it felt like he did to most everyone witnessing Monday. Maybe it's not, but it still seems to be in the balance two days later.

As of 4:30 PM per CNN, FOX and ESPN:

Damar Hamlin is still in critical condition. No further updates have been provided.

He has been sedated to allow his body to rest as well as recover.
A coworker told me his condition worsened overnight. Apparently, his breathing is more labored now he stated he was at 1/2 lung capacity. I cannot confirm this but he gets a lot of sports info

Right but if you are on the assembly line at Ford and the nut driver next to you dies, you go back to work the next day. These players are getting special treatment.

Question for you medical marvals.

How much brain damage can result from a nine minute lack of blood and oxygen?
Depends.
They were doing CPR so that circulates blood.
Also, he is an elite athlete and spends a lot of time at or near maximum exertion which forces the muscles to deplete the body of oxygen, thus his brain has been conditioned to be under a low oxygen scenario.

I've heard a couple different reports on tv that he went from 100% O2 to 50% O2?

Bills S Damar Hamlin remained in critical condition on Wednesday.

ESPN's Cole Harvey, who spoke with Hamlin's family, said "doctors overnight got promising readings that they had been hoping to see by this morning" in monitoring the 24-year-old who collapsed on the field during Monday Night Football. Still, Hamlin remains sedated in the ICU in critical condition. Hamlin's family member told Harvey that Hamlin was only resuscitated once on the field, not multiple times, as reported by some outlets. The Bills-Bengals game, canceled after Hamlin was taken off the field in an ambulance, has not been rescheduled.

Question for you medical marvals.

How much brain damage can result from a nine minute lack of blood and oxygen?
9 minutes = brain dead
it isn't 9 minutes, fortunately.
Damar was given CPR almost continuously and early. CPR will give you about 30% efficiency
You can go 4 minutes without any oxygen but not absolute
Nobody knows at this point what to expect -
Good medical response and care, young heart and lungs, good conditioning = improvement
They are properly weaning him off oxygen right now. He is doing well.
We won't know for some time about full recovery
If he stops breathing again, that would not be good.
That is why drowning victims who get resuscitated go to the hospital , and get monitored

But drowning is a bit different because of the risk of secondary drowning which can develop as late as 48 hours after.

Just heard an update from the Bills.

Hamlin has shown improvement overnight and today.

He is still having difficulty breathing and remains on the ventilator.

Bills had practice today in preparation for Sunday's game.

They are weaning him off the oxygen. That is done carefully.
You have a safety background, I'm going to assume confined spaces.
It takes very little difference in oxygen level to induce stress to respiratory system.
Damar has gone from 100% now down to 50%

"Based on OSHA guidelines, a confined space is considered to have safe oxygen levels if readings are between 21 percent, while a space with readings of less than 19.5 percent are considered to be oxygen deficient. "

I hope they play him Sunday then maybe, just maybe Patricia will at least try the long ball. We can line Thornton up on him

Don't try this at home...I'm what you call a trained professional...

What is the world’s record for the longest time someone has held their breath underwater?

The current men’s world record holder is Stephane Mifsud of France with a time of 11 minutes and 35 seconds. The women’s world record is held by Natalia Molchanova of Russia with a static breath hold of just over nine minutes.

If you are in a normal (20.9-21.0 %) area breathing normally, you will generally exhale about 16.5 %

Pats - Bills may be postponed...

We’ll allow Sean and his team and his staff and the players, which are the most important things here, to guide us if we have to make that decision,
