Lions need to concentrate heavily on the defensive side of the ball when it comes to 2023 drafted players and might as well look at drafting a PK, but only if said PK has a positive history of making 50+ yard FGs and I've yet to witness any CFB PK that looks the part for a 2023 draft pick.

Why would they, they ran the ball on 4th and 16 and got the first easily.

And even if you don't get it, apparently the refs might come up with a reason to replay the down.

Not if players get healthy and come back and played like they were expected to.

Missing Cominsky these past two games has really showed up - not to mention Levi O., Paschal and Romeo O. being out doesn't help either. In the same context, we have no clue what we have in Levi O, Paschal and Romeo.

2020 and 2021 defenses were already amongst the worst ever statistically. This year were going to force teams to keep scoring instead of just cruising. It's not like we've added any difference makers or plugged any glaring holes.

They spent most of their picks on D this year, but yes they should do it again...and stop taking WR's in the first round.

Eh you guys have something to be happy about.

Detroit: 45
Seattle: 48

Healthy Detroit -

Detroit: 91,921
Seattle: 48

Both teams should be concerned about their defense which I was screaming about all along in the Hawks forum. There was various moments/posts (feel free to visit) where I was like "WTF?!"

I'm really starting to regret the Williams pick at this point.

Don’t. Nobody they would have taken w those picks would have made a difference.

And don’t get too excited about this O, either. I’m not.

Young players on defense. Changing scheme from holding position to attacking. Mistakes were going to be made early and often. It will start to improve. When it does, the Lions will be a tough out.

It's almost as if none of you have ever watched a whole season unfold before.

They are trying to be sneaky about it by zone blitzing and dropping guys off to cover area where there ends up being no receivers. It is a mess. They are playing a sort of "cat and mouse" game. Unfortunately this result is what happens in "cat and mouse" when the cat is retarded.

The shitty defense should not be a surprise. Lions had a historically bad defense last year, and we added a few rookies and 1 safety in the off-season. I am not shocked they continue to be terrible. I would have hoped for SOME improvement, bad look for Glenn.

I cannot wait until Anzalone is replaced and yet it's highly unlikely that'll happen anytime soon. It's frustrating to watch him be two steps and two ticks late to diagnose and be where he is expected to be on the field.

AG should replace Anzalone with Board and then give more reps to Barnes as a breather for Board.

Speaking of Board.... He received the highest PFF grade of any defender last week. By a lot. His was 80.6, while the next highest, McNeill, was 69.5.

He had 23 defensive snaps last week. This week, he was rewarded with 8 snaps.

THAT'S a problem.

When you load up the box with 7 defenders on L.O.S. on 3rd and 5 or 3rd and long and you run a Blitz 0 coverage package, you'll be susceptible to getting burned more often than not.

In each of the last two games the D-Line has failed to seal the edge and collapse the pocket enough to stop opponents getting 1st downs - 1st half of Vikings game was good though - and from that point on it's been picked apart.

You fix the D-line ineffectiveness to stop 3rd down conversions first and foremost and that'll help the back 6 or 7 and then they can work on fixing the latter.

Detroit has also struggled with their starting cornerbacks. Amani Oruwariye is PFF’s lowest graded cornerback in the NFL and nickelback Mike Hughes is not much better, ranking 105 out of 110.

BB-72: The performance by those two players above has been detrimental to the back 7 but so has Anzalone's play. The Lions are giving up too many completions inside the numbers through the first 3 games and then last week we saw a lot of play action outside in short to intermediate levels and that opened up go routes 4-5 times.
