I watch a lot of court tv — it is usually defendants saying the police report is wrong and they are innocent.

Never once have a watched a police officer get on the stand and say — our 1st report is wrong, so let me show you the 2nd draft.

Did you watch the OJ trial? Mistakes I can think of was they said OJ went on an unplanned trip, human blood found in his vehicle , mislabeled urine sample, mislabeled blood sample......and these guys were veterans. All mistakes on the reports.

Explaining something 2 weeks later after the damage is done is not good enough. He should have gave a retraction and a correction with the story the same time he edited the story.
Again, this is not what factually happened, but boy does it help make your fans feel better to keep that going right? :L

We will all find out the factual details when this thing is over. However, for now his version of the events are:
While putting this together he asked the Police for all records around Zack Smith under a FOIA request.
Was given an official police report that said arrested from 2015.
AFTER he posted his Aug 1 article and this thing starts to blow up, the police contacts him and gives him a different, updated version of that report.
He makes changes to his story and comments to it why he made those changes and speaks about it in an interview as well as on another web site.
And it hasn't even been two weeks since that all happened yet so try sticking to just the facts and be more accurate. It helps not make you look delusional and sensationalist in your defenses of your program.

I just don't get why all the bizarre hysteria by your fans. There are plenty of holes and questions that could lead to Meyer being entirely absolved of any wrongdoing at all. It isn't necessary nor helpful for your fans to keep going off on tangents of nonsense until that report comes out. You all aren't sleuths with some back channel access to damning information. Let it play out. I'd be surprised if Meyer is not still on that sideline this season. There will be plenty of time for frying whoever you want once the actual facts of the case are out there.

This is a really important question. How, why, and when did the police report change? Why was there no arrest in a mandatory arrest state?

Okay - that was four questions.

It could be something as simple as checking a box in a report writing system on accident. Or they track certain actions as "arrest" for crime reporting purposes that don't actually require handcuffs and a trip to jail. Like a citation for certain things, etc.

It's funny how every little satellite issue is what you guys are fired up about while completely ignoring the actual issue. I get it, it sucks. But don't be Baylor or Penn St, be better than that. You guys will be just fine however it turns out. Call a spade a spade for once as college football fans. From what I've read, Maryland fans are doing so. Be more like them.

Yeah, so about this. The initial report an officer makes on a high profile case will probably get sent back for corrections from supervisors multiple times before approval. And it still might have errors come court time they missed. We are talking 10-15 pages of data and written testimony without a professional editor to be found in a police department. And the report is usually written at the end of a 10-12 hour shift when you are dead ass tired.

I'm still shaking my head at that Snook report. A kid that grew up in Columbus, moved to Austin, and chose the program who has been more successful of late, located in the town of his childhood, at the University he grew up loving. Herman was so distraught at losing this recruit (at the deepest position in Texas) he created a conspiracy to bring Ohio St down. That's some QAnon level conspiracy bull shit. :pound:

He’s all bitch and was one of the first OSU fans standing behind a blog that said she called 911 66 times and had 3 DUIs — all from a 247 Bucknuts Blog. Then when asked to provide a better or just another source confirming this, the little bitch ran and hid

@Shanemansj13 Might be the biggest little bitch on tHoop and I’m pretty sure he might be the author of the piece on Bucknuts. Can’t wait for his next piece

Why do I need to provide proof to a little kid like you? Even if Urban was 100% innocent you still wouldnt believe. Your judgment is skewed, honestly from your post history your stupidity is hilarious. I know you will probably cry yourself to sleep when Urban is not fired. Pussy lolzzz

Didn’t ask for proof. You are such a woman seriously. I’m just laughing at you pimping the 247 Bucknuts blog as your source for calling 911 66 times with 3 DUIs and..

This has all been confirmed by Facebooks I’ve just learned. Also I guess the secret cure for an earache is to squirt some fresh squeezed breast milk in your ear

Thats basically saying this is based on opinion of Meyers. Rather than the incident and the Smiths. If Urban knew and ignored it. Herman knew and ignored it. Herman chose to tell the reporters no comment when asked tho....This isn't about ones opinion its about facts. McMurphys false reports and edits have only led to speculation. If what McMurphy reported holds weight by those standards Herman knew and ignored it....

You have no Idea if Herman knew and ignored it. He was long done by the time this came to its zenith. Meyer lied which simply added another layer to his reputation. Just because a person thinks Meyer is a scumbag, that doesn’t mean they are wrong or biased.

Okay cool, Smith is innocent and his ex wife is just crazy, why did Urban lie? Seems like a strange thing to lie about. He could have said, no comment. He could have said, we've investigated the situation and feel Smith has done nothing to warrant discipline. But no, he denied knowing anything about the situation and that it was a made up story. Ignore the names and situation and look at the behavior, what would you normally assume? An attempted coverup maybe?

Really? Now you are trying to compare a murder investigation with evidence handled by many different individuals to a police report written by a responding officer?!?!

Or are you trying to say the responding officers to the OJ case decided on the scene they didn’t need lab results for urine and blood evidence and they handled it all themselves?

In a major city — I’d agree. As officers are doing many reports and dealing with many different cases. In Powell, Ohio — I disagree. Want to know how many violent crimes Powell dealt with in the last year. ZERO. 0 murders, 0 rapes, 0 assaults.

This was nothing more than a DV call And with 12,000 people total in the city, it is probably one of the few reports they even had to write up.

Well, then they would be more prone to mistakes then? No? Everything isn't a conspiracy...

I’m not calling anything a conspiracy, but Powell is almost identical in crime rate to the city I live in, with roughly half the people.
I have two buddies on the police force here and they readily admit the job is a joke. Their days are spent parked on side streets trying to give out speeding tickets.
If this had happened in Cleveland, I’d be on board with the overworked, tired police force. That isn’t happening in a city with 12,000 people and zero crime.

In my line of work, "this bitch is fucking crazy" is code for, yeah I whipped her ass, but she deserved it, look at how crazy she is. Keep Smith's painting of the situation in context. We know he was cheating on her forever, we know things got physical. Yet somehow, we are to believe he didn't try to hurt her. It very well might have been a mutual thing, but whipping your wife's ass because she hit you is still domestic violence. He should have reported her ass to the police for hitting him and left the damn house. That's how men need to handle this crap going forward. Stop being too proud to admit their wife hit them, because when you fight back, you will be found at fault. You leave the marks, you are the stronger species. When it's your word against theirs, the physical evidence wins. Or always have a witness when you deal with a wife you are separating from. :noidea:

Like not arresting a guy for beating his wife? Maybe not looking too hard? That kind? Or is that totally not possible? They could fk up everything else but not that.

My question is why did McMurphy ignore the final report.
He didn't. His initial story was consistent with the police report he obtained. The report was changed after he filed the story. He edited the story when he learned of the change to the police report.

So, if this is a common error, how common is it? I mean - it's a pretty serious mistake for the police to make.

No city has zero crime. Minor crimes have to be investigated and written up to. In fact, a minor crime is more labor intensive for a patrol officer than a major in many instances, detectives take over major crimes fairly early, while minor crimes are investigated all the way by the patrol officer many times.

A simple DUI/DWI/OWI (whatever your state calls it) is hours of paperwork. When you testify, you usually have around 30 pages in your report when everything is put together for this misdemeanor offense.

I'm just trying to give context as to how mistakes occur. Clerical errors are common and don't mean anything. Defense attorneys don't even bring most of them up during trial because it's easily explained and understood by a jury once you show how reports are completed.

Everything is done in software these days where you fill in data and check boxes. Better for time management, but easy to make mistakes in. Typically, the only part of the report that is done the old fashioned way, is the officer narrative. Which is basically just documenting your actions for later testimony.

I will also add, the fact they made a report at all when he wasn't arrested tells me they probably presented this case to a prosecutor and he declined charges. You don't write a report for an argument between two people when no crime occurred. They probably think a crime occurred, but couldn't prove an aggressor or gather enough evidence to prosecute. At least that is the common practice. Those guys would be writing reports non-stop if they wrote reports for every single call they go to where no action is taken. I don't care how "low crime" your city is.
