You understand what zero tolerance means, right? Hyde was on video outside the club.
Dunn was charged r*pe for an incident in August of 2017, not for what he was kicked off the team for.
And once again — zero tolerance means none. Unless we are back to believing he knew nothing about all the incidents with Zach Smith.

Zero tolerance does not mean you can assault a woman as long as they decide not to press charges.
The new policy will be "Almost Zero Tolerance"

The worst part of this whole thing, imo, is that it caused KKK to leave the PF and expand his shitposting to over here. Urban should be fired for that alone .

. I heard rumblings about this through higher up boosters that were concerned about this kind of behavior while at Florida.. but that's how he wins championships.. and that's why he let stuff slide or covered it up or had it buried.. I don't doubt Meyer isn't a good coach.. but his ethics on how to get them are shady... just depends on how much the school, alum and boosters are willing to put up with how he handles his teams.. I never said he wasnt a good football coach.. but he lost all my respect with how he did Florida.. Same with Spurrier Great coach.. but he is an asshole..
The problem at Florida isn't the coaches, it's the culture. UF might have the worst culture problem of any college in America. There hasn't been a single coach there who hasn't had MAJOR discipline issues. Hell, Mullen just got started and he's already got multiple issues of major levels of magnitude to deal with. Gainesville is toxic, plain and simple, and it's been that way for decades.

We will have to disagree.. it isn't Gainesville.. it's the hood rats that happen to have athletic talent.. the metro areas around the state have larger areas of low socioeconomic status which happens to favor their hood rat mentality.. that doesn't change just because they relocate.. Miami/tampa/jax/ orlando all of them have large areas of the gang mentality .. but they have sports going for them.. I can't imagine that a coach would have supreme knowledge about each of his players and exactly the kind of home life a kid has..He may be aware of some things but not everything..and sometimes kids are just stupid enough make poor decisions...this isn't just a Gainesville problem btw.. this can be anywhere

It can be anywhere, but it doesn't seem to be. At least not as bad. You don't hear about this stuff at UCF/USF/FAU, and not really too bad at Miami anymore. FSU had Cook and Winston assaulting women but that's about all. UF just seems to have it in droves every single year.

This is the deal you have to make as a coach, if you want to win championships:

  • recruit guys from inner cities with shady character but outstanding athletic ability.
  • Hope you and your staff can keep them steered clear of any major wrong-doings, knowing you can't prevent all of it for every player.
  • Continually beat the drum about how it's all about the players, and you're giving them a chance when nobody else will, etc.
  • Even if you have to suspend one or two guys for major infractions, you may still have a team that is talented enough to win.
For some coaches, it works (See: Myer, Urban). For others, it gets them closer than they would have (See: McCartney, Bill). And sometimes, it all implodes and you're out of a job and possibly out of a career (See: Briles, Art)

That's not really the case though. Saban isn't having these issues at Bama (and didn't really at MSU or LSU), Swinney isn't having these issues at Clemson, Meyer isn't having these issues at OSU (and didn't at Utah or BGSU), and those are the 3 best coaches in the nation by a wide margin right now. In fact, if you look around the college football landscape it's really only a few programs who seem to routinely have these sort of issues anymore, and Florida stands out above all others.

In truth this model works for a period of time and then it implodes incredibly.

It was in response to KKK — he obviously doesn’t understand what ‘zero tolerance’ means.

He excused Hyde getting arrested by saying the woman refused to press charges.
He said Dunn was kicked off the team for r*pe and Kidnapping — that incident didn’t happen until 2017. Dunn was kicked off in 2015.

He excused Hyde because of the video. He suspended him for being a dumbass and putting himself in that position. As a senior, he should have known better.

First off, Hyde was actually entirely exonerated by the video tape and it was from inside the club. He flipped a girl off, she got pissed and hit him and he pushed her away and walked away. That was the extent. No crime was committed by him unless flipping the bird is now assault.

Dunn wasn't kicked off in 2015, he was kicked off in summer of 2016. He was kicked off for violation of team rules, so he's irrelevant to this conversation.

What does zero tolerance mean to you?

I’d guess that is where our views differ.

Also — Hyde has an awfully funny way of ‘flipping the bird’. Here it is in slow motion.

That being said — it isn’t like it was a big secret that Meyer was shady before he got to OSU. All this fiasco does is confirm he hasn’t changed at all. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a tremendous coach — he is one of the top two CFB coaches right now.

It's time to life the suspension of Urban Meyer and go on with the season.

What does it mean? I think Urban handled Hyde with that mindset unquestionably. Hell he immediately suspended him from the team. What was he supposed to do?

Yeah, that video shows she was the aggressor and he shoved her after she hit him, BFD. He weighed 235 lbs and his "assault" didn't cause her to fall or even stumble, so STFU acting like this is something he should've been kicked off the team for. Why don't you talk to your own team about what "zero tolerance" means.

Hasn't changed? Such biased ignorance. The guy has run a tight ship at OSU since the day he got here. Players that get in trouble have been dealt with very quickly and sternly. The Smith situation has been the outlier, and you don't even know the full story.

Zero tolerance means if it happens, you are gone. Not, I will suspend you for a game or two.

And I love Urban Meyer as a coach, but he hasn’t changed at all in regards to disciplining players. He talks a good game, and from your responses, OSU fans think he has — but step back and look. His discipline is based on the value of the player or in the most recent case, the coach.

LOL no it doesn't. It means you face punishment for your mistakes commensurate to what you did. If the video tape had actually proved Hyde had assaulted the girl, he would've been permanently gone and you know that. Outside of the Barrett (barely) DUI, he hasn't had any major players get in trouble in years, so what are you even talking about? You're looking through maize colored glasses here, come on.
