BigBen, both will have some disappearing acts throughout the season where they either just can't get it going, or cede most of the fantasy pts to the RBs, but the window is closing on this unit in Pitt, its SB or bust for them.

Week to week, it's a match up play, with Ben getting a small edge "in a vacuum".

These are the choices that the first six week opponents come into play for me to draft one or the other.

Ben has always been fairly inconsistent when it comes to Fantasy. But the upside on that loaded offense is too much to refuse. Goff is pretty equal but it boils down to skill position talent, and the Steelers have the edge.

That said... I'd probably still stream him & wait until November to start Ben with consistency. He has always been a Nov-Dec QB.

I'll bet Ben has two-4 weeks that are better than anything Goff does all year. Yet I'll bet Goff beats him on a consistent basis otherwise. I feel Goff stakes a claim to be among the elite fantasy QB's during this season, and hell be mentioned right along with the top guys next year. That offense can be that good

I hate to say it, since I doubt it is the answer you are looking for, but I think Ben is the safe play, but Goff has the lower floor and higher ceiling. The two of them would make a nice tandem, though.

I think we are 1yr away from Goff taking that next step.

Lean heavy on Gurley plus the revamped D this yr, then they spend cap space to lock up Donald and the offense (cooks if he fits and Gurley, possible goff extension too) and unleash the juggernaut in 19-20

Ironically, Ben finished 10th and Goff 11th in standard fantasy scoring (317 pts vs 312 pts).
Both played 15 games.

In a 3-year window Ben averaged 294.3 yards per game. He's dropped to 287 ypg (trending down).
Goff has only been in the league 2 years but averaged 257 ypg last year (trending up).

Ben had 28 TD vs Goff's 29 TD last season.
Ben is ranked ahead of Goff in expert rankings.
But Goff is being drafted ahead of Ben in ADP.

If I had to chose I like Ben cause you know what you're getting.
But unless I'm in a pinch, I'm not targeting either as my starter.

Goff was a fine prospect, #1 pick, that first year with Fisher is completely irrelevant. Goff could be one of the next elite.

Offense is loaded and he'll get easy points on big plays with Gurley, just as easy as Ben with Bell. Had 29 TDs in basically first year, that's going up.

Ben is a total health risk. I don't know how this is close. It's very possible there is no last harrah here.

Yep, and on top of that,
Woods, Cooks and Cupp are not far behind Brown, JuJu, and ???.
Rams have the edge at TE
Rams have the edge at offensive coaching getting more with less
Rams have the edge in SOS, IMHO.

Let's not get carried away here. I said they "weren't far behind", and regardless of what way you look at it, they aren't.

I'm not saying anyone is in the class of Brown. BUT, as a group, Cooks, Woods and Kupp, are not markedly worse than Brown JuJu and?? If for no other reason, than there is no #3 in Pitt. That alone is enough to put almost any 3 reliable receivers "not far behind".
So yes, they aren't far behind, even though Brown is head and shoulders above them all
