I have soured on CCGs. I think this season it's only necessary in three conferences...

AAC--SMU (10-2, 8-0) vs Tulane (11-1, 8-0)
MWC--Boise St (7-5, 6-2) vs UNLV (9-3, 6-2)---did not play HTH (San Jose St (7-5, 6-2) was eliminated by a computer
SEC--Alabama (11-1, 8-0) vs Georgia (12-0, 8-0)

------------
Regular season outright Champions (or by HTH)...
ACC--Florida St (12-0), 8-0)
Big Ten--Michigan (12-0, 9-0)
Big XII--Texas (11-1, 8-1)
Pac-12--Washington (12-0, 9-0)

C-USA--Liberty (12-0, 8-0)
MAC--Toledo (11-1, 8-0)
SBC--James Madison (11-1, 7-1) (HTH over Troy (10-2, 7-1))

This is how my 8-team playoff would look without all of the unnecessary CCGs.
If Georgia wins...
(1)Georgia (13-0) vs (8)Ohio St (11-1)
(4)Florida St (12-0) vs (5)Texas (11-1)

(2)Michigan (12-0) vs (7)Oregon (11-1)
(3)Washington (12-0) vs (6)Alabama (11-2)

If Alabama wins...
(1)Michigan (12-0) vs (8)Oregon (11-1)
(4)Texas (11-1) vs (5)Alabama (12-1)

(2)Washington (12-0) vs (7)Ohio St (11-1)
(3)Florida St (12-0) vs (6)Georgia (12-1)

The seeds are based on granting the conference title holders the top-5 spots.
I also avoided same conference matchups in the 1st round.

I think CCGs will and should disappear with all the changes happening. Hell, if it's an open weekend, I'd be more for extending the season one more game and play another conference game. going from 9 to 10 conference games. stay with 3 OOC games.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Okla St. beats tex. and Lville beats fsu. (fsu isn't the same team-and I get a kick out of everyone white knighting to the death fighting for "fsu no matter what should be in". lmao. they aren't the same team. they didn't look that great last weekend, and what if they squeak by again. they'll get murdered in the CFP.

what's sad is the B1G CCG. it's a joke. that game was already played last weekend. it's essentially meaningless for mich. and is basically a free shot for iowa for an upset. mich. is already the B1G champ. what if key playmakers for them get hurt, like corum or jj?

B1G scrapping the divisions next year is a great idea so a lame championship game can't ever happen again

I’d rather see max of 10 teams in a conference and no CC games. Especially with a 12 team or more playoff…..fuck that.

I wonder if there is any combination of results where three B1G teams are undefeated

Only if Phil simms deems them necessary...yeah ok

Somebody did the math right when the schedule for next year came out.

There could be as many as 5 undefeated teams, in conference play.
wowzers. So there could be multiple teams that are undefeated and locked out of the championship game??

I like it. I’d try to include the top Go5 team as well would be my only change.

I agree that we may very well lose to Louisville. If we do, so be it. If we win, we deserve a shot. If it is as everyone says, we get our doors blown off in the semifinal. No harm no foul.

If this format were implemented this season we'd have Michigan-Ohio St in back-to-back weeks. That wouldn't be good. This is why I'm in favor of a CCG only if necessary.

Michigan beat Ohio St. Why do they have to do it again before the playoffs? Same thing with Oregon-Washington.

A rematch would be great football. UW and Oregon already played too. Should that game also be canceled under your idea?

The only way they should be kept is if they are some kind of quarter finals for the playoffs. Otherwise, with expanded playoffs there's not much point.

Yes. Washington (12-0, 9-0) defeated Oregon (11-1, 8-1). Why should they have to play again before the playoffs?

Why should Oregon even have a chance to be in the playoffs under this scenario?

Because its 11-1 and ranked #5 with its only loss being to #3 Washington.
Are you in a 4-team playoff mindset or 8-team? I'm in favor of an 8-team playoff.

That’s why you move that first one earlier in the year
