We SHOULD jump Clemson after they needed a last second FG to beat Wake.

Maybe not in the human polls because they did beat us head to head, but depending on how much weight the computers give for a top 25 win versus a win against WF, we may jump them in the BCS. Doesn't really matter though since neither of us have a chance at a NC, so we'll just have to look for a rematch in the ACC CG if we take care of business.

I saw this discussed somewhere else. What's the possibility of 2 ACC teams in BCS bowls? If both Clemson and VT win out, what are the chances the loser of the ACCCG still gets a bid? Loser would have to still be in the top 14, which I think is possible.

bcs ranking could have an impact for the loser of the acccg. the loser may be high enough to get an at-large bcs bowl.

Chances? 0.

No way they'll take 2 ACC schools. It would take a ton of losses to the teams in front of both us and Clemson for it to happen.

id say that there is a very good chance that both us and clemson will be ranked in the top 8 if we face each other in the acccg. a loss would only drop either one of us down 1 spot or 2. id say its a possibility.

boise state loses at the buzzer on a missed field goal. it is a deserved win for TCU in my opinion. TCU got shafted on a pass interference call at the end that kept the boise drive alive on 4th and 10. we are moving up at least 1 spot in the bcs, maybe 2 if oregon loses tonight.

I think we may hop the loser of the stanford vs. oregon game regardless of who it is (at least in the BCS polls). The BCS polls haven't showed stanford any love this year and getting a top 25 win on the road should look good.

also consider that all of the teams currently ahead of us play head to head against another top 8 team except for alabama. arkansas plays lsu, stanford is playing oregon right now, boise already lost, and oklahoma plays oklahoma state.

1. lsu
2. oklahoma state
3. alabama/stanford
4. stanford/oregon/alabama
5. clemson
6. virginia tech

that could realistically be the bcs standings heading into championship week. if that were the case, id have to believe the loser of the acccg would have a shot at a bcs bowl.

Well there went my Orange Bowl prediction. Boise just lost to TCU. Looks like we'll have to face someone else. ;)

Me and Lumbee09 were talking and here's how we think things will shape up.

SEC (gets 2) LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia
Big 10 (gets 1) Whoever wins the conference championship
Big 12 (gets 2) OK State, Oklahoma
Big East (gets 1) Whoever wins the conference championship
Pac 12 (gets 1 or 2) Oregon, Stanford, Arizona State
ACC (gets 1 or 2) Virginia Tech, Clemson

Houston and Boise State are really the only wild cards in this considering one conference can't have more than 2 teams. But with those teams, the BCS bowls would have to choose them over a two loss team since they probably won't be ranked high enough (top 8) to get an automatic. The only other thing to consider is this:

The highest-ranked champion of a non-BCS conference will receive an automatic berth if:
It is ranked in the top 12, or
Ranked in the top 16 and higher than at least one BCS conference champion

This clause becomes relevant because of the crappy big east. So I guess it will be a very interesting last few weeks! Just hoping that us and Clemson win out to set up an epic ACCCG

I don't see why. It's not like any of them will bother to attend whatever bowl they go to.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Before Groh ran the program into the ground, UVa attendance was just fine. Winning brings fans in, and that is just what UVa is doing.

I disagree, the only thing that hurts the loser of the ACCCG (if both Vt and Clemson win out) is if the Fiesta OR Sugar HAS to take a non BCS qualifier, at this point I see only Houston in that position with the Boise loss. Fiesta would likely take Oklahoma or OKSt loser, and then the Sugar may HAVE to take Houston. They have two formidable opponents left in SMU and Tulsa so we should keep our fingers crossed on that. IF Houston loses a game and Clemson--VT wins out, I believe the Sugar would take the ACC runner-up over a PAC12 team that didn't even play in its CG (Stanford).

Yes, my question is (and I haven't researched this) is if USC wins the PAC12, how is that handled with their ban..does the loser of the P12CG get the auto bid to the Rose Bowl?? If so that could change things somewhat..

if we do get to the orange bowl, ill really be hoping that we dont have to play cincinatti. i want to play a big, highly ranked team. if we do have to play a lower ranked team, i hope it would be west virginia if somehow they win the big east.

Yup... looks like we may need Houston to lose for the ACC to get 2 teams. Although 2 of the at-larges will make me wonder. 2-loss Oklahoma may be ranked below 2-loss Clemson/VT. Also, Stanford doesn't bring a great travelling fan base. If they aren't an autobid, do they get an invite over VT/Clemson who both travel better?

I may be treating the ACCCG as our bowl game if Cincinnati is Big East champ. I want to win the ACC, but even the Chik-fil-A bowl with the 6th-place SEC team would provide a better match-up than Cinci.
