It isn't really fair to do this -- but if the Cavs could do it over -- a package from the Suns (including Bledsoe and/or Booker -- plus other assets) might have been better than the Celtics offer. (or somehow make the Paul George deal work)
really- the thing that they should have done is just trade Kyrie for CP3 right when the offseason started--- the CLips would have taken that deal in a SECOND over the Rockets deal.

Three is nothing the Cavs could have offered, outside Kyrie and Brooklyn, to get both Bledsoe and Booker.

That might not have been enough.

Remember: They refused to include Jackson.

yah....honestly as i see it there are about 10-11 great prospects in this draft...it is the Clippers luck they would have 12 and 13...
maybe they can try and package those picks to move up.

I think J. Jackson or Bamba could be absolutely great starting building blocks and would fit great with the Clips if DJ leaves.

Either that --- Young or Sexton- if either falls would be great PGs to start a team with. Sexton is intriuging to me since he plays defense too.

Id be very happy with Mikal Bridges or Sexton at 8.....and Porter at 8 would be EXTREMELY tempting if he makes it that long.
Yeah, you are in great shape.

I can only hope either Sexton, Shai-Gilgeous are available when we pick.

I think this offseason will make things a lot clearer. If the 76ers can land a premiere free agent, I think that tips the balance in their favor. Right now, I’d still pick them...but that’s obvious.
Do you think McCollum would fit with the 76ers?

If I'm the 76ers, I'm calling about Bradley Beal.

There is a interesting debate happening on Get Up.

Since only 3 people, outside of myself, actually watch the show, I will relay it here....

Assuming health, what roster would you want going forward....

Philly or Boston?

I'm so torn....

The fact that I am not a fan of that Horford contract and that Philly has so much cap space, I'm leaning there.

But,.......Kyrie, Hayward, Brown, Rozier, Tatum gives me extreme pause.

It's a tough argument. Really tough. Both teams appear to be in fantastic shape for the future.

If I'm trying to be totally objective, I think you have to give the nod to Philly... because they have the two best, young players in the equation.

That being said... if we're factoring Kyrie and Hayward into the question... it's too close to call. Brown appears to be on a Kawhi Leonard like trajectory. Tatum is only 19 years old. Boston, therefore, seems to have an ideal mix of aging, 'in their prime' and young players to win both now and in the future.

I don't know. Put a gun to my head and I'd take Philly (factoring in their cap space to add more)... but I also wouldn't trade Boston's situation for Philly's or vice versa... both sides are great.

Very objective, agree with everything you've said.

It's dangerous to compare young guys to elite players, and that's not what you did here with Brown and Kawhi.

But, Brown does check many of the young Kawhi boxes so far.

Good write up here. Nothing I would disagree with. Honestly if you were to give a slight nod to Boston that would be fine with me as well.

These two teams could be in the ECF for the next 4 or 5 years if they stay healthy.

Oh, I agree.

But dude is putting up prime time performances in the playoffs. That's next level, to me. He's taking the next step and already putting up the #'s when it really matters.

Thats why I went to around half the games this year.
At best, its a near 6 hour adventure between driving and game time, let alone the cost, plus trying to figure out having dinner.
You take the good with the bad, but nobody wants to go through that knowing you are going to lose most every game.
Makes the wins even more exciting.

Wins and losses also matter less when you can decide to go at the last second and pay $0.33 for each ticket.

The biggest asshole in the scenario becomes the ticketmaster fee dicking. Unless lebrons on the court of course.

All of this is premature anyway. Does 3 wins against the 6 seed mean the process worked?

The future is bright in Philly, for sure, but they haven't justified anything yet.
You'll get yours.

If you can make it that far.

@WiggyRuss

Me and @Bolts were talking about a rumor I read a few weeks back that suggested the Mavs would try to move their pick for both of the Clippers or Suns 1st rounders if they think they can land Boogie.

If this is true, they may just get their guy.

The draft being before free agency is problematic though...

i_0f_ed_db_demarcus-cousins.png

The Pelicans have broached internally the idea of offering Cousins a two- or three-year deal at less than the max, per sources familiar with the discussions. I would not expect that to go over well with Cousins’ camp. But the Pelicans have the dual leverage of winning without Cousins and a tepid market for him.

Even from the standpoint of roster, its too early to call.

People are making very understandable and fair projections about Embiid and Simmons. But at this point they are still projections that have yet to be proven.
They are beasts.

Now.

Embiid will tell you, then he'll show you.

Hopefully as soon as he dons the purple and gold.

#SteveNashAllOverAgain

That's just mean. lol

Seriously though, that is my biggest fear if they were to get him any time after this off-season (and even a little bit if they get him this off-season). Nash had played at an all star level the season before the Lakers got him, then his body just fell apart.

To be fair, Nash had a bit of an injury history that Lebron doesn't, but still 33+ years old is still getting up there, so it's still a risk.

The good thing if that were to happen, is that Lebron will probably continue with the 1-2 year contracts for the rest of his career...so at least they wouldn't be stuck with him long term if that happened.

Now that's a damn great question. I don't think there's really a wrong answer. Although I kinda like the pieces the Celtics have better than the 76ers. Slight edge: Boston.

You know I'm just joking...lol

If you have a chance to get LeBron, you do it.

He's the only guy currently in the NBA at that age that is a complete no brainer.

....that includes Cp3 for 4 years 200 mil.

no way LeBron sells out like that to go to Philly.

Plus---- Philly does have some cap room but its not like they are just flush with it.

There guaranteed contracts next year are:

R. Covington: 10.5M
J. Bayless: 8.5M
M. Fultz: 8.5M
Simmons: 6.5M
Embiid: 25M
Saric: 2.5M
Korkmaz: 2.0M
T. CAbarrot: 1.5M

and this does not count TJ Mcconnel: 1.5M and Richaun Holmes 1.5 who have team options.

That is a total of roughly: 68M. The salary cap is set to be 103M. That leaves just about exactly what LeBron makes available- 35M. So they could definitely do it---- and if they could get someone to take bayless might be able to do a couple other small things---- but doubtful it would be anyone else.

That team would def. be the East favorites if LEBron signed there-

I just dont think he is.

I think he reups in Cleveland for 1 or 2 more years--- waits for the Lakers to get the situation a little better, and moves on.

Of course- there are plenty of factors that yet to be determined--- how far the Cavs get...if the Brooklyn pick moves up in the lotto.....if they can trade the pick for a significant player.

If say the Cavs traded the Brooklyn pick for McCollum---- LeBron, Love, McCollum, Hood, Nance Jr., Clarkson, TT, JR, Korver---- and having that team for a full year and healthy would be interesting. The Blazers would probably ask for Hill back to match salaries since they prob wouldnt take TT.
Please be right. :hope:

Are you kinda surprised by this?

I am.

I get their hesitancy.

But, it's not like they can go out and add a game changer if he walks.

Not offering him a max is disrespectful. I'm ok with a shorter deal.

Give him a 3 year deal with a player or team option
