My god that would be the ultimate Browns pick.
Man, if the Browns could hit on a stud QB at #1 and then pick up Barkley at 4 and he is as good as people think they could finally turn this whole thing around and win a Supe...Who am I kidding...that's not happening...Their QB will flame out and Barkley will probably tear his ACL be the Pats backup in 2 years
...You do realize that whoever gets taken at #1 is going to be third string on the QB depth chart, right?I hope its Allen... Because that would be a very Browns thing to do.
"Let's take another raw QB prospect and throw him into the fire, setting him up for failure, and expect him to be a miracle worker... mmkay?"
I highly doubt that... He may start the season as QB2, but it won't be for long. You know as well as I do that Hue has his job on the line this season....You do realize that whoever gets taken at #1 is going to be third string on the QB depth chart, right?
So the smart thing would be to bench the veteran Taylor, who just took the hapless Bills to the playoffs? You're reaching here. Hue has 0 reason to push any rookie QB into the starting lineup. Considering Dorsey drafted Mahomes last year with the purpose of sitting him for a year, there's no reason at all to think he'd pressure Hue to start a rookie. No basis to this line of thinking whatsoever.I highly doubt that... He may start the season as QB2, but it won't be for long. You know as well as I do that Hue has his job on the line this season.
Well you may be right, but it doesn't have to be all about pressure. Banking on Taylor holding down the position for a full 16 games is risky enough. Whether it be a benching, or an injury, I think the QB2 is destined to see the field sooner rather than later. So the smart thing would be to bench the veteran Taylor, who just took the hapless Bills to the playoffs? Why? He started the majority of the last 3 years in Buffalo, and his benching last year had nothing to do with his performance, and it was quickly shown to be the wrong move. Also, having a QB get injured resulting in a rookie starting is hardly the mark of just the Browns. It happens all over the NFL. The problem last year is that they had no talent at QB to start over Kizer. If Taylor was there, Kizer would likely have no started a game.Well you may be right, but it doesn't have to be all about pressure. But if you had the choice between Darnold, Rosen & Allen as your QB2... You would take Allen, the much more raw candidate out of the 3, and not consider that a "Browns thing to do"?Why? I don't think any of these QBs should be considered anything but "raw". They've all got flaws that should keep them out of any starting lineup for most of the season. I'd personally rather take Darnold, but I understand taking Allen. He's going to have a year to sit and learn. His ceiling is the highest in this draft class, without a doubt. Honestly, I trust Dorsey. He's got a proven track record and if he likes what he sees from Allen, I'm fine with it.But if you had the choice between Darnold, Rosen & Allen as your QB2... My point is... If the intention is to take a QB at #1 overall, then why not take the best candidate for the job?
