I heard somewhere this week that Matthews should be back soon. Wonder if that happens or not.
Looks like Calgary’s cooked. What a disaster of a year in Alberta. Shouldn’t be a GM or coach left standing once the season ends.
If the Isles had traded JT, imagine the kind of draft and new beginning they could give to a new GM? Two lottery picks, certainly at least one more 1st rounder later on, likely a top prospect and a decent NHL talent too to go along with a core that is already not too shabby with Barzal, Bailey, Lee (who could also be traded for value), Eberle etc.
Instead, unless he defies every grain of competitive logic, JT will walk for nothing and the Isles will continue middling along on the path they’ve been on for what feels like forever. Too bad.
The whole regime needs to be torched, starting with the guy who pisses himself on military flights. No playoff wins in 3 years, miss the playoffs entirely in 2 out of 3 years, no answer in net, their bottom 6 is bottom of the barrel, Brouwer and Frolik are making a combined $9 mil for a combined 50 points a year, Sam Bennett's not even 18 anymore! They will get an unprotected lottery pick from the Flames, so that will help a little. GG and his staff are as good as gone though, so if missing the playoffs is what it takes to send that message, I'm okay with it. The Flames were going nowhere even if they would have made the playoffs this season.

They're making Jim Benning look good.
It's not a lost season for the Flames though. They did win in Anaheim back in October against so there's something to build upon. They will get an unprotected lottery pick from the Flames, so that will help a little. Benning isn't wasting the primes of two great players, three if you include Giordano. You were doing so well and then you blew it with that last sentence
/Gotta move a dman for some RW help, that's for damn sure. Having a goalie that can last an entire season would help too.

Two words: lottery protection.I'm hoping that Giordano has drank from the same well of Zdeno Chara - I still think there are some good pieces in place, but in hindsight, the acquisition of Hamonic was a mistake in judgement by BT. You pay the price that he did when you think you're close to contending for a Cup, not when you're still in a battle just to make the playoffs.
I for one look forward to 5+ minute goal reviews when determining if a player's skate was millimeters off the ice...

Oy vey.
Players; the rule says that if the back foot is up, but the front is down it is offside. The only logical thing to do is jump over the blue line on every zone entry. Both feet off the ice.
