It is crazy, it's probably going to end up not being worth it, being right has dividends however at the QB position; and that's why you will continue to see Wentz cited even if the next 10 times it is tried are complete failures (I don't think so with Mahomes and Watson, but I digress)

Wentz was a lot more highly regarded than any of these guys though. I just don't see any of them being elite or even really good. They've all got such big deficiencies and the Jets don't have the skill guys to hide those shortcomings

Hub Arkush gave an interview last week. He's no super-scout, and I don't always agree with him, but I was intrigued in this case. He declared the following:

1. There's no Wentz or Watson in this draft.
2. None of the QB's are top 3 pick worthy
3. There's one top 5 pick caliber QB - Mayfield
4. Rosen & Darnold are top 10 caliber picks
5. Allen is a 3rd round quarterback

And like you've never heard of Brady, Brees or Rodgers. It goes both ways.

The Brownsiest thing to do would be to force yourself to take a QB at #1 despite the numbers advantage, miss on him, lose out on Barkely in the process, and watch the other 2 qb's & Barkely become all-pros.

I think that's suicide with how many teams are trying to trade up.

Mayfield, Rosen, and Darnold could all be gone at 4 leaving you with Lamar Jackson, Mason Rudolph, and Josh Allen with teams like the Jags, Saints, Dolphins, and Cardinals looking to get a QB as well. At 4 those are huge reaches, and it just gets more bumpy trying to draft a QB afterwards.

K, rereading this just to make sure I said what I thought I said

1) Any of these QB's could be off the board, that does not mean all of them will be; the risk calculus 1 will be there at 4 is not tolerable if you think they're actually a franchise guy.
1b) I can see how that is confusing, I tangled myself for a bit
2) It should not be assumed the Jets will do something supremely stupid and draft Allen
3) An all pro RB is still worth less than an average QB on a rookie contract
