I don't care who's fault at this point we lost.
Very true.. but BB certainly didn't help

Correction. It was a dumb football move. After a long, agonizing silence, Malcolm Butler really has opened up this week about his infamous benching in Super Bowl LII. The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe published a piece Wednesday, in which Butler explained why he believes he didn’t play a defensive snap in the Patriots’ crushing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. And in a telephone conversation with SB Nation’s Thomas George on Wednesday, Butler — who just signed with the Tennessee Titans — revealed what Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said to him after the game. Per George: “You’re a fighter and good luck in the future,” Belichick said, according to Butler. “Thank you,” Butler said he replied. Short and (bitter)sweet. The former Pro Bowl cornerback also opened up about his rollercoaster season with the Patriots. “The last year was the toughest to deal with,” Butler said, via George. “A lot of things were going on. A lot of stuff going on. I was almost traded. Having to prove myself when I felt like I had already proved myself. “I just rode the wave as long as I could. I was just going to see what was next.” Regardless of what Butler or any of his former teammates say, Patriots fans likely will always suspect there was a more nefarious reason for his benching. Still, it’s looking more and more like Belichick’s decision truly was a football-related move, and nothing more.

Malcolm Butler opens up about Super Bowl benching
Former Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler, who signed with the Titans today, discussed a wide range of topics with the Boston Herald, including his Super Bowl LI benching against the Eagles.
Butler never got an explanation for the benching and hasn’t spoken with Bill Belichick since the Patriots departed Minnesota. But he did surmise why he didn’t take the field on defense.
“I never got a reason,” Butler told the Herald. "I feel like this was the reason: I got kind of sick. I went to the hospital. They probably thought I was kind of late on the game plan; I wasn’t as locked in as I should be and could have been a matchup deal. It could have been anything. But Bill Belichick has been doing this for a very long time. He took a veteran out of Super Bowl XLIX (against the Seahawks) and put in a first-year rookie, and that turned out right, so you could never question his decision. It didn’t work out right (against the Eagles). It didn’t work out the best for me or him or the New England Patriots. But I can say he won more than he lost, so it is what it is. I always have love for New England, Bill Belichick, Mr. Kraft, all those guys. Life just goes on.”
Yeah people say that every year if they keep guessing sooner or later some will get it right.Correction. It was a dumb football move.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but it feels like the Patriots dynasty ended in that SB.
None of that would matter to most on this board. From what I heard, he was a horse's ass. Skipped or was late to team functions and meetings, partied too much.

I agree 100%. BB set the tone and lives with that outcome as does Butler. No doubt, but Belichick has no patience for that crap. Butler's benching was his own fault and if the Pats lost because he wasn't in the lineup...again, it's his own fault.
Not me. With the combo of the SB loss and all the off season losses, it just feels different this year.Yeah people say that every year if they keep guessing sooner or later some will get it right.
