Mclain yes. Made a big play in Sea. Mcghee was solid for us. He was our best run defender. Like I said before if the injuries don't happen it wouldn't have been an issue. Even if Taylor stayed healthy the dline would have been fine. I agree there is a need at NT. Hood doesn't belong there. I just wouldn't draft another run stuffing DE. That is what Payne is

At the risk of sounding rather obvious here

you do realize the Redskins were DEAD LAST in rushing yards given up per game right?? Yet we dont NEED another run stuffing D-lineman??

We are 180 on this one. Not on the pick being a QB at 13 but in the way a great team handles themselves in preparation for the future, even if the immediate future is set.

Immediate future = next 2-4 years.

Oh no doubt we need to take a developmental QB in this draft.

I just dont think based on team needs, team dynamic and ownerships lack of patience, you draft a QB at 13. I give fuck not if Darnold some how slips... you trade the pick. Get the D-lineman, draft Rudolph in the second round and all importantly.... avoid the massive shit storm that would come from drafting a QB in the first round.

Hell this team couldnt survive a 1st round QB having a 4th round QB breathing down his neck when management WANTED the first rounder to start until hell froze over. You seriously think, if they draft a QB in the first round, and for what ever reason we start out 0-3... they wont start the Allen needs to start bullshit??

What a normal team and what the Redskins or Browns would do are polar opposites.

and here is another thing MR dean , i am 1000% sure shark and i were talking about chasing elite qbs since 2015 . i was assured by you that wasnt the case and that you only wanted to "see more " , just an innocent thing " to be sure . as time went on and the chasing the elite qb kept getting brought again in 2016 and 2017 you assured us that wasnt the case and here we are

we are in the 2018 off season and low and behold you glamourize the steve deberg trade i mean CDC , i mean alex smith trade telling me how we had NO choice and blah blah blah

now if allen magically lands at 13 we would be "dumb " to pass him up ? :D

maybe i smell major CSI and deception here that everyone up is missing .

Then we agree, not at 13, but a 2nd or 3rd round QB is OK. BTW: For me no later than the 3rd and that guy has to have real upside talent. No more of the Nate Sudfield experiments and backups who can't ultimately challenge the starter for PT, like Colt who forces the team to look elsewhere at some cost for a starter.

It shouldn't matter 13 or 20's. Its a strategy for the future.
Imo, it does matter. It's about the quality of the team balanced against need. Unless the Skins can get into the playoffs at least once in the next year or 2, you'd be drafting Allen for the next HC b/c Gruden would get fired. Then your next HC gets saddled with a QB he had no role in choosing.

The Skins are in a very tough division, has only 1 playoff appearance in the last years (3 years ago), and the quickest way back to the playoffs is to use the 13 to fill the biggest hole on the team (somewhere on defense).

Eh, my 2 cents.

I think we all know ehb wasn't born yet the last time the Redskins were great. It has been a very long time since they have been a great team.

I suspect we have quite a few regular posters here that are in the same boat actually.

some of them dont listen to the people who have wisdom on what a great organization was run like and how good our football teams were because of how they did things

i agree with this guy im for drafting a qb ever year or to but if we draft a qb with are first pick that be stupid you draft a Hog or a Run stopping Dline man or a run stopping ILB if you have a legit DLINE and A LEGIT PASS RUSH your corner backs and Safteys will be better if i was a GM i would go QB Oline Dline Pass rush would be my first goal

100% agree with this, however, we must be able to figure out ways to deliver our words of wisdom in a manner that's more receptive to them or risk wasting them.

if the mccboys can stay healthy and they werent all that good when they were either , then d/line help is what we need over a rookie project qb .

mcclain doesnt fit our scheme and mcgee is an overpaid rotational guy

McGee graded out decently. I think we need to give him a bit more credit or at least a chance.

This is the year to take QB. A lot of good looking prospects. Allen probably won’t be there, but someone could be. And Alex Smith is a place holder.

we dont need to take a qb in round one after giving 71 mil guaranteed to CDC /steve deberg / alex smith

for us round 4 or beyond is ok

I don’t know, man. This draft is strong in qb prospects. If one of the top 4 or 5 guys slip to you, I think you take him. I doubt they do though. You guy will probably get a stud defensive guy.

It really depends on the actual terms of the Smith contract. What is guaranteed versus what is guaranteed for injury. If we have a two year easy out with Smith, then sure it makes sense if a top QB prospect falls...if we are stuck for three years, there is no way we should take a QB high.

So, you got an expensive back up for a year or two. I think it’s worth it if the QB pans out. The longer the rookie has to acclimate himself, the better chance he’s got.

the draft pick , our young good CB and the 71 mil guaranteed should end that talk . we could have signed a FA qb and then drafted a QB at 13 instead of doing our stupid trade

if allen is there we should trade down and see if we can recoup some of our assets we lost
