Um wouldn't the qbs that you guys are discussing entertain offers from den, jets, cards, you can say we have a backup plan but those teams have one point we have to draft a qb if Kirk leaves colt
can hold the fort he is healthy and he has been in are system Point is could colt be the next keenum and Alex Smith Etc etc

More like Sam Bradford or Griffin as like them, Colt won't make it through a 16 game season.

KC put up some nice stats, pretty much against bad teams and during the back end of 2015. The Skins only beat one team, Buffalo, that finished the year at .500, every other win came against teams that finished 7-9 or worse. And while the stats won't show it. The only decent game KC had against a good team that year was New England and that was still a 27-3 ass whippin till KC hit Jordan Reed with a TD with 30 seconds left in the game. Basically all KC proved that year was that he could ball against mediocre to sub-par teams.

The only posters I recall being adamant pro Cousins at that time were dad and Shark. Maybe there were more, but I recall far more fence straddlers and wait n see types as opposed to peeps who took up a pro Cousins stance.

KC won games against the teams he had to beat. Let me rephrase it. The team won games against teams they had to beat.

That's one way to look at the Redskins 2015 season and I won't argue against it. It doesn't change anything I said though.

See, I don't think we are that far away from really competing. This was a 10-6 team without the MAJOR injuries (Allen, Reed, Thompson, Norman for a month, the o-line).

Now, before you guys bite my head off, I want Kirk re-signed. He studies like no other, sleeps in a hyperbolic chamber and is 29 and entering his QB prime years. For the sake of this title I have to choose someone else.

So that being said I'm rolling with Alex Smith. I know we can win with him. His skill set is made for Jay's offense. Doesn't have Kirk's arm but is better off schedule and at 33 still has better wheels than Kirk.

I think we are a RB (Michel, Guice, Johnson,etc.....), WR (Landry, Richardson, pick, etc......) and two demons in the front 7, a NT and a MLB (Vea or Payne and R. Smith) away from being right there as long as we don't have some project, or gimp, or headcase at QB.

Take the pick we hopefully get for Cousins and draft Smith. Use our pick on Payne, and give up a pick in 19 for Alex. Don't draft a QB at all. Colt can back up Alex and we can draft one next year.

Games: Smith 15 Cousins 16
Comp%: Smith 67.5 Cousins 64.3
Yards: Smith 4,042 Cousins 4,093
TD: Smith 26 Cousins 27
INT: Smith 5 Cousins 13
20+: Smith 52 Cousins 59
40+: Smith 13 Cousins 9
Sacks: Smith 35 Cousins 41
Pass Rating: Smith 104.7 Cousins 93.9

Sure, Skins were banged up, Alex had Hunt, and Hill, and that's why I would take Kirk over Alex. When Kirk had JR, PG, and DJ he was prolific. I'm just trying to illustrate why I'd seriously monitor the Alex Smith situation over the others that are out there.

Still think its so cute people think we will get a prime draft pick for a QB that

A. Our front office doesn't really want to keep
B. Might not want to stay here under any circumstances
C. A good portion of the fan base thinks is mediocre

Gonna have to tag him and then create a bidding war. If no one gives us a 1st we keep Kirk under the tag, extend Kerrigan and Trent, go get a WR, re-sign Mason Foster, and draft a nose in the 1st and a RB in the 2nd.

That's kinda like putting a for sale sign on your car and saying $90k firm, must sell by Friday. And the car in question is a 2012 F150

Hahaha....not exactly. By all accounts Kirk will be the top FA on the market. It's gonna take a 1st to get A.J. Certainly we can get one for Kirk...........right? If I don't get a 1st for Kirk I TT him and dare him to play in Cleveland.

AJ is a free agent. So unless the Bengals franchise him... it will take nothing but a contract to get him.

The only way we get anything for Kirk is if we tag him first, and then we are at the mercy of him simply signing the tag. We don't have the option of trading him to who ever we want, because he can simply not report to the new team, and hen we are stuck with him.

We either sign him long term. Play him on the tag, or trade him to a team HE wants to go to, which means we probably wont get a 1st, and would be lucky to get a second for a QB we don't really want to keep.

Like I said, tagging him and expecting a first is like trying to sell your car that you still owe on and expecting to not only get out from under the loan, but make a profit on the deal. Now if you are good with that, I got a 2015 Nissan you should take a look at.

The ONLY way A.J nets a first is if he's dealt before the NFL draft. That won't happen, and consequently he'll become as @Shark noted in his analogy. (must sell by Friday)

AJ McCarron trade value increased thanks to restricted ...

I don't think we will be signing any FA QB this offseason not named Kirk Cousins...if we do not sign Cousins we will ride with Colt and draft a QB, and its going to be a real bad situation if we don't draft a QB who Gruden likes. Lets play this one out, Skins draft QB who has potential but does not fit Gruden's scheme, Skins go 4-12 fire Gruden and the madness begins all over again. It will only be true madness if we do all this and somehow trade for Rivers just for sh*ts and giggles.

Heh. What happened to drafting one of the 27 rookie QBs in the draft who were better than Cousins?
Apparently those 27 decided to stay in school than risk being drafted by the Redskins.:L

I think its cuz none of the reasons you list will be the reason(s) why the Redskins don't get a prime pick. If they don't get a prime pick it will be because Allen or Snyder/Allen fucked up the situation one too many times and now Kirk is clearly the party with the leverage.

Probably doesn't help either that when the dust settled. Every supposed stud (and I was on the Darnold bandwagon myself) came up significantly short of the expectations that were placed upon them before or at the beginning of the season.

Presently Kiper and McShay are riding Josh Allen's jock as the best QB in the draft. Why, I can't call it.

I don’t see any “can’t miss” qbs in this draft. They all have issues. I would be hard pressed to spend a high 1st on any of these guys.

Agreed. Given his comp %, 56.3% for the year. I'm a little surprised McShay has given Allen top QB of the draft class status (though that could change a dozen times by the time the draft rolls around) I saw McShay speaking on Allen's accuracy issues and while he did say Allen needs to improve in that area. He also said Allen suffered a lotta dropped passes because he had a lot of talent leave Wyoming the year before and Wyoming isn't the type of school that can reload on talent.

I could buy that a lot easier I suppose.................if his comp % his soph yeaar wasn't a just as unimpressive 56.3%. His career comp % is 56.2% and his TD/INT ratio is a very unimpressive 44/21. I'm wondering if the okie doke isn't on to get Cleveland to draft him so the Giants can snag Rosen. As Rosen has hinted that he'd pull an Eli Elway and not go to Cleveland if they draft him.

Id consider any first rounder to qualify. At least compared to somebody like mccarron.

And yes I think he has shown promise.

So the 32nd pick is highly drafted but the 33rd isn’t?

Explain the promise you have seen.

That's the guy I like as well. Best arm in the draft.

Where do you get that from?

Decent stats in a not so great situation at a young age. Film is pretty promising too.
