Its a track record, same thing with Andy Reid...It goes back to the age old question, how valuable is a coach that will always get you in the dance, but is just awful in the actual dance, Every Single Time

Except, Tomlin has won a SB. Reid hasn't.

The odds of his replacement being a downgrade are overwhelming... You tell me who would be better suited for the job, and I'll tell you why you're wrong.

This team is centered around a cast of prima-donnas. If any hard-nosed coach were to come in to create a more disciplined atmosphere they would cause too much friction with the players. They could use a youthful voice that everyone could rally around, but it won't happen.

Simply put, the Rooneys will continue to do business the way they always have. They have a successful product right now, whether it lives up to lofty expectations or not. Tomlin would need to drag this team through a couple of sub-500 seasons before he gets the boot.

I think you are correct but also note some real issues here with the team and how it is constructed.

The fact that some players overlooked the Jags despite losing big to them earlier is inexcusable and it sounds like there is internal tension in that locker room. Tomlin has probably been holding that thing together with duct tape.

I still feel like the problem with Pittsburgh is on the defensive side of the ball, where they have been a shell of their former selves for years now. They are no longer the physically dominating team they once were on D and it seems like their drafting, once so good on D, has fallen off.

Mike Tomlin should only be fired if the Steelers believe they have a valid candidate to take over. Having said that, Terry Bradshaw was probably right - just a glorified cheerleader and not much of a HC. It's too bad that in this society, he was pushed into apologizing....for saying what he thinks is the truth. Tomlin isn't a good head coach, and I think Haley has worn out his welcome as well.

They made Blake fucking Bortles look like Joe Montana out there.
And when you're the coach of the team that makes Bortles look like Montana, you should be fired

Some puzzling decisions. Were there bad decisions made? Some regrettable tactics? Yeah. At the end of the day? Just how many coaches are better than Tomlin right now?
I guarantee you there are no "free agents" that would be an upgrade.

I've never been a huge Tomlin fan but they are always a good squad. He's already won a Super Bowl. Firing them is a recipe for getting worse really quickly.

That'd be great if they fire him.

Chance we don't bring in a certain failure im Detroit if that happens.

What you maybe don't do is kick the onsude kick 2 yards and then touch it. The only reason this turned out bad is you kicked such a shitty onside that Jax didn't even really need to move the ball to be in FG range .

I don't take huge issue with the onside as you've got to hold them 3 and out either way and kicking the onside gives you an extra shot to get the ball but it was executed so poorly it backfired.

Worse than the onside was not kicking the FG right after the Bryant catch . You've got to score twice and running 3 more plays after that ostensibly ended the game without even giving yourself a chance

I'd rather have them uproot and move to Cleveland.

Hey stop picking on Cleveland! Did you already forget the Clowns had a perfect season? Have the Steelers ever done that? That's what I thought.:heh:

That's always easy to say after the fact . I have no clue if they were ready to go or not. I know they played like shit the first quarter but that happens sometimes .

Their defensive philosophy has definitely changed. It's a rarity nowadays that they go after the blue-collar hard working type. Tomlin tends to chase after the flashy type players.

Just once... But that was back in 1944, and they only played 10 games that year finished 0-10. That year they merged with the Cardinals to become "Card-Pitt". Next closest season of misery came in Joe Greene's rookie season in '69 when they went 1-13.

Feel free to immediately discard this brief lesson in Steelers history from your memory banks.

One thing about the Steelers I'll never remove from the memory bank is this.
