He threw for 750 yards more than Wentz, completed 68% of his passes, had a better TD to INT rate, more rush YPG and led a team with an awful defense to the playoffs. If you want Wentz ahead of him that's cool but it wouldn't be by much . Not if you're being realistic anyway

Dude... he crashed and burned. His last 10 games he went 4-6, Wentz went 9-1 his last 10 games. Wentz threw for 8 more TD's in 3 less games. Theres a post on here earlier the season where I was saying Smith was MVP but he went completely mediocre after his hot start and had a 1-6 stretch losing to great teams like the Giants, Raiders and Jets. MVP's dont go 1-6 losing to bad teams. I doubt he finishes in the top 10 MVP voting.

Alex Smith isn't flashy but I think he's quietly very good.

Me too. But MVP... this year... above Wentz... not a fucking chance.

It's naive to argue Wentz isn't the reason the eagles are the #1 seed.

That's the definition of mvp.
Well you can say that about Brady too, and via league standings Pats are #1. I think its a good possibility the Rams are sitting at home without Gurley too. That's the definition of mvp.

Had Wentz not gotten hurt he'd definitely garner his share of 1st place votes and may still get some, I just don't think he'd get enoughm

No KC went 4-6. Smith had a few blah games ( as did every QB). Overall his year was one of the best in the league on a team with probably a bottom 5 defense

That argument doesnt work, "KC went 4-6"... Alex Smith was the QB of a team that went 1-6 for a stretch this season. That aint an MVP

Via league standings 13-3 = 13-3. Eagles and pats are tired for the best record in the league.

Pats without Brady...still have bill at the helm. They don't look nearly as bad as the eagles have looked with foles (outside of the Giants game).
Gurley gets my vote, not sure if the Rams miss the playoffs without him though..

Ok

Four teams are tied for the best record.

FYI, when leagues stack all teams together they place them from #1 to 32 using tiebreakers. Yes Philly earned the 1 seed in the NFC while New England earned the #1 seed in the AFC and the NFL.

The question comes down to Wentz's TD's vs. Brady's yards.

Brady's TD's are impressive too, but Wentz is one ahead of him in 3 less games.

I think Wentz wins the TD contest hands down if he stays healthy, by a decent margin, but likely would still not be anywhere close to Brady's yardage.

So say, Wentz finishes with 37 TDs and 4100 yds, compared to Brady's 32 TDs and 4577 yards.

I mean, one could argue it's a toss-up. Myself, I'd be inclined to give it to the 40 yr old.

And during their 1-5 skid he threw 12 TDs to 4 INTs and they scored 30+ multiple times . It's not just about record man. Lots of factors play into that . There is not a single stat that Smith wasn't very good in this year , even during the Chiefs rough patch.

The NFL is about marketing and celebrating the new, aka "the future". It's why no-name one-hit wonders win coach of the year awards every year, and Bellicheck hasn't won it since 2010.
