Donald is probably the top rated DT in the game...you want to see those guys that out perform their rookie deal for many seasons get that big payday.

But, when those bigs get $100+ mil deals, it's just more challenging build around. Goff will soon be a $100 mil QB...Donald will be 2 or 3 yrs into his new deal by then. But who knows...maybe they will have a ring by then as well...then nobody cares!

Donald is an once in a generation talent. And will probably be our fourth defensive lineman in the Hall of Fame, unreal.

Agreed...what's your point? That he's worth $100 mil?

I won't know for sure until I see the contract, but it is hard to say he is not, football is won in the trenches, where is a playmaking cog and does he make his teammates better, certainly.

Any truth to the rumors that the 9ers aren't playing Jimmy because they are afraid his awesomeness will screw up their chances for a top draft pick?

LOL, no. He is at the practice facility this week during the bye working with Shanahan and the QB coach. He is still learning the system and the oline was disaster due to injury the week before last. He will play when he is ready and it is a good situation.

Don't understand what?

There are teams in the NFL that are always in the hunt, year after year. They have owners who hire good people and keep them happy, and don't try to meddle in football decisions. The Patriots and Steelers are like that. Then there are the Browns, who seem to be in a little league all their own.

When a team like the Eagles or Rams comes from nowhere and is suddenly in contention for "best team in the league," it's just dumb luck.

The Pats are fortunate, yes, to be in a division with 3 perennial doormats, but they take advantage of it. This year they lost Edelman, Mitchell and Hightower to injuries and got off to a slow start, but lately they have dominating anyway.

Denver will be back. So will the Cowboys. Maybe not this year, but those remain good football organizations.

.

Or could it be these teams had talent but the coaching was awful? The Rams always had talent but underachieved for years because of Jeff Fisher. How Fisher survived as long as he did is beyond me.

Well...I've never seen it ($100 mil DEF player, especially a DT) work...that doesn't mean it can't or won't.

The biggest thing is DEF, you must have at least one studs at every level DL, LB, and secondary to have a great DEF....if one guy makes $100 mil, that math just never seems to work out.

But like I said...I'm a player's guy so I like seeing the players make the money. I'll be happy to see him cash in.

I'm pretty sure that's why BB shipped chandler jones out. Obviously still a good player but that contract is tough in the cop era

Out of curiousity, how is Vance McDonald doing? I have not heard anything about him since the trade.

How Fisher survived as long as he did is beyond me.

Yeah, a proven failure gets another job and they let him stay for years despite a constant record of under-performance. The NFL needs to break the cycle of the coaching carousel that constantly brings losers back after they've been canned.

Wade Phillips got a couple of shots at HC, but it just didn't work. Now he's back being a DC where he belongs. He's the best in the league at that. I hope he's happy.

Honestly the AFC East always starts out somewhat competitive with a few teams looking almost ike contenda's.

But after a while they start to lose to each other a few times, have a few bad losses and it becomes apparent once again the Patriots will win the division.

It is what it is.

IMO...good.

I would now consider him the starter...excellent in blocking. He's had a couple of drops which is his MO, but also some difficult catches...got his 1st TD last week I think, certainly a TD.

Ben is getting more comfortable with him and vice versa...I think he will factor more in the passing game down the stretch.

LOL, sorry but I am not too familiar with the Steelers. Is that bad?
Real bad, Green was damaged goods and was pretty much worthless.....McDonald has 5 catches for 79 yards and 1 TD which was in last weeks game.....I think McDonald has as many penalties as catches.....So he's got that going for him, which is nice.....

I'd say he is very happy, Rams are 3rd in points allowed. And not to mention his daughter lives in LA.

We had two issues with McDonald. Stone hands and injury prone. I think the injuries played as much a part as the drops. In his time in SF, he never played through sixteen games.

And Denver's defense without Wade Phillips is being exposed.
Yup, been injured every other week, has some drops including a TD that a toddler could have caught....10 games in, getting some playing time and has 5 catches....I'd rather have Jackie Smith at this point.....
