I'm all for the expansion...and obviously some sort of realignment would be required but I think getting rid of the AL & NL is a terrible idea. I'd much rather keep the AL & NL and just have either 4 divisions of 4 teams or 2 divisions of 8 teams for each league. I think it'd work out pretty well to add Portland to the AL and Montreal to the NL. It could look like this:
AL WEST
Portland, Seattle, Oakland, LA Angels
AL SOUTH
Houston, Texas, Tampa Bay, Kansas City
AL NORTH
Detroit, ChiSox, Minnesota, Cleveland
AL EAST
NY Yankees, Boston, Baltimore, Toronto
NL WEST
San Diego, San Francisco, Arizona, LA Dodgers
NL SOUTH
Miami, Atlanta, Washington, Cincinnati
NL NORTH
Colorado, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Chicago Cubs
NL EAST
NY Mets, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Montreal
Fuck the DH. The DH IMO has ruined baseball. You have some player sitting on his ass collecting splinters and all he does is come to the plate and bat 3/4 times a game.Eliminate the AL and NL and realign into four geographic divisions of eight teams. ...So this is the ploy that will ultimately implement the DH for the entire league...

I completely agree... Hate the DH.Fuck the DH. The DH IMO has ruined baseball. You have some player sitting on his ass collecting splinters and all he does is come to the plate and bat 3/4 times a game.

I also do not like the DH, but MLB seems hell bent on forcing the NL to accept it. This seems like the "easiest" way for them to slide in the change.

My intended point was the linked suggested realignment in the OP is the means to integrate the DH into the whole league.
The only way I would ever accept the DH is if the DH were linked to the pitcher. If the starter comes out, so does your starting DH. You have to declare a new DH the next time the “pitcher” is up to bat.
But even this idea sucks. It just sucks less than the DH rule as it exists today.
The NL is the only baseball in the world that intentionally is inferior. The only way I would ever accept the DH is if the DH were linked to the pitcher. If the starter comes out, so does your starting DH. You have to declare a new DH the next time the “pitcher” is up to bat.

Why not abolish the lineup entirely? If I am at an Angels game, I just want to see Trout hit. Allow him to hit every AB. If he gets on base, put in a designated runner and Trout picks up the bat again.Nothing sucks more than being forced to watch pitchers hit.
It’s awful. An eyesore. It’s the weirdo with all the statues and trinkets in the front lawn of a nice neighborhood.

Now THAT would be a cool game.
And who wants to watch a noodle armed statue play 3B just because he can hit? Let’s put defensive specialists at every position.
Now that is really an example of 9 on 9!
