Things are heating up for both cities getting expansion teams before the new TV/digital agreement in 2024… Hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the Sonics left Seattle, doesn’t seem possible …But it’s looking more and more like this might happen, soon… We’ll see, be cool having the Sonics back through, then we can own the Lakers again like we always did in dominant fashion!

If those two teams were to be created, I wonder who would have to then shift over to the Eastern Conference.

From the map, I think New Orleans and Memphis would be the likely candidates. Minnesota and OKC could be in the mix as well.

Be interesting to see what they would do, that would put 16 teams in each conference

Minny or Memphis. Memphis is the furthest East, but Minny travels the most every season. Minny would be my choice.

The # of divisions would have to change too, since 16 isn't divisible by 3. Either 2 divisions per conference or 4. I would go with 4.

This has been discussed a lot already here, including do they go to 8 divisions of 4 or 4 divisions of 8 or what?

I think it should be Memphis moving, farthest East and close to a lot of East teams in the Midwest region. Them or Minnesota, no way OKC or NO in my opinion, the grouping with the Texas teams is the most workable.

Start here:

Why would Seattle want anything to do with the NBA? They got fucked, and now they can bring the "Sonics" back and parade around like they are righting a wrong?

Seattle loves basketball, so why shouldn't they?

Exhibition games at Climate Pledge were sold out within hours last season.

I guess time heals all wounds. Maybe there are more forgive and forget than I think.
Most people were mad they lost their NBA team why wouldn't they want one back? Kind of like what happened to the Cleveland Browns, or Baltimore Colts. You are projecting your own feelings on the city, most people want the NBA back.

David Stern is dead now and the shit show he performed his last decade as commissioner ought to go down as forgotten time at this point.

David Stern might have been the best commissioner in the history of sport.

lol @owning

The Sonics had an overall record of 98-94 against the Lakers.

They met in the playoffs 7 times with the Lakers holding a 5-2 edge.

I was kidding… :) I did like some of the old Lakers rival games though, early mid 90’s we had a little edge, but it was all over once the Lakers got Shaq … Lakers have had way more success as a franchise, can’t be argued … 87 Lakers I think we’re one of the best teams ever, got to see them live once in Seattle court side seats !!
