Exactly. Have to play the politics/PR game until the deal is signed. If for some reason it doesn't come to be, then they haven't pissed off their current conference members.

I guess Alden learned his lesson. We'll see. I still think this is all a bunch of BS though.

It really depends on how big the SEC really wants to go. If they add aTm and then only one more for 14 teams, then I think there won't be major shake ups. However, if they go to 16, we'll see a frenzy of conference positioning for realignment. The conferences that are proactive will come out ahead as you just can't sit back and wait to see what everyone else is doing.

IF the SEC does nab aTm, Mizzou, Clemson, and FSU, then the ACC and B1G will immediately have to go after at least a 14 team conference. The ACC would most likely head back to the Big East and try to pick up Cuse, UConn, Pitt, and WVU to get them to 14 (one hell of a BBall conference). If they wanted to go to 16, you'll see USF, ECU, Rutgers, Kansas, and Notre Dame on the 'auction block' so to speak.

I don't see Mizzou getting into the SEC. Last year the Big10 & the SEC both made it clear that they didn't want them, I don't see what could have changed and I don't see any market increase with them.

As far as Clemson goes, I know USC will vote against them and I think UGA and UT would too. Clemson, again, doesn't really add an untapped market. Many SEC schools already battle Clemson for recruits, their upper hand is their conference. With Clemson in the SEC, UGA might not ever get another South Carolina player again.

FSU? Love the idea, but I know UF doesn't. Tallahassee is a decent sized city, but it's not that big of a market and from what I've seen the SEC already has a strong foothold in the panhandle of Florida. FSU brings name recognition, and a large fan base though. IDK what to think on this one.

Texas A&M will be welcomed with open arms... but only if the SEC gets exactly what they want from whoever the other schools are.

Mizzou brings two large TV markets with them. However, with most tigger fans being homo, they probably won't much be into sister bangin', thus not really fitting in with the SEC.
