NBA All-Star Game ditches East-West format

Captains will choose the teams, regardless of conference play.

I guess they needed a way to spice up this event seeing as it's been a complete shit show the last few years. I'd love one captain to just tell the player pool, I want to win this thing and shut down the other team...who's with me. Then select whichever players want to do that.

Player friendships though might come into play here and also could allow new friendships to forge. But you know #superteams

The last few years, I've felt the players would play harder if there were no TV or people watching -- if it was just a pickup game with bragging rights on the line.

Russ would be an entertaining captain. I think there might be a few guys he would never pick. KD and Curry would be at the top of his do not draft list. If those two went on LBJ's team, it would probably be over unless they just messed around.

I don't think Curry and Kyrie have any animosity, and I think most players don't really care. At the end of the day if the goal is to get the best squad in this game Kyrie will be up there in terms of overall talent.

Curry, Russ, KD, AD, Harden, and Kawhi. That's 6.

Then you have: Klay, Draymond, Paul George, Melo, Chris Paul, KAT, Jimmy Butler, Blake Griffin, DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gobert, Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Dame Lillard, CJ McCollum, Nikola Jokic for another 6 spots.

Why change it up? Because the NBA all-star game is already a bit of shit show, but add in the fact that the East would not be well represented and you got = even more lack of interest

At least the NBA is trying to make things somewhat even with the draft and now this.
