USC , Deontay Burnett day to day with shoulder injury suffered in the Cal game. Is there a better WR right now in the PAC?

Yes.

Other interesting stats of the week:
The ducks converted 54% of 3rd downs in their OOC slate, and went 1-11 on 3rd downs against ASU.
Rosen actually had more yardage than Falk through the air this week (480 v 478) and he threw for 3 TD's, but much of that came after Stanford had the game well in hand and presumably were in more prevent defense.
Falk went 478 and 5TD's, but against a defense that appears to be closer to resembling a FCS squad than a true FBS level.
Outside of Hawaii the Bruins have allowed 150 points in three games. Their defense is ranked as one of the worst in the P5's.

ASU's 3rd down defense had been worst in the nation until Saturday. This was in large part to not missing nearly as many tackles as in the first 3 games.

Yeah, I remember them talking about it during the telecast. It really was an astounding turn of events for both teams given where they were coming into the game.

I do not know how many of those 14 accepted penalties derailed their offense on 3rd downs, but whatever the cause 1-11 is not going to get it done against almost any team in the Pac.

And  At Jon Wilner dropping WSU entirely out of his top 25 from his ballot this week because BSU got smoked leaving WSU with no quality wins and they have no road victories. He has just 3 Pac teams on his ballot this week: USC 6th, UW 8th, and Utah 24th with Cal and WSU just outside the 25.

Seriously, the Cougs have yet another home game Friday and have not played on the road at all. 5 of their last 7 after their match up this week with USC are road games.

Jon spoke with a couple of schools about their confidence in what Scott is doing in regard with the network... and it appears they are happy with him. :L
Pac-12 Networks: What the university presidents think

Among things in there, the network is doling out around $2m per team. The SEC and B1G are getting at least $10m each which they admit limits the big budget salaries for coaches some of those conferences are now paying.

And he moved on in his series on the network to opinions from some select media, including his own commentary. Reviews were all over the map from A- to flat out F grades.

Media analysts grade, comment on the Pac-12 Networks

So essentially they are thrilled that he is gambling on ESPN, Fox and CBS to implode and turn Asia and Austrailia into Pac 12 markets? Guess down the road it could makes sense but since so many athletic department are desperate for money since most schools spent what they were led to believe would be the revenue instead of what we ended up getting, seems weird that there was a positive review.

How much of that is truly how they feel, and how much of that is similar to coach speak where you never undermine your players (employee in this case) in public? You aren't going to get a candid response from the schools. It's in their vested interest to blow smoke up his ass and act like everything is going exactly to plan. Undermining him would only make him less effective in negotiations and make things worse.

But yes, their long term strategy is to leverage these untapped foreign markets and grow their brand until they have the muscle to push Direct TV and other media outlets in this country back to the table.

So, basically we are screwed for the short term and have little hope of catching up with the other conferences in the long term, short of conference realignment.

Wow, USC didn't have any explosive plays in their win over Cal. They did have one run that went 19 and one pass play of the same yardage, but no plays over 20. Does that seem uncharateristic to anyone else? :noidea:

Is Cal's D that good, or just an off day for the deep plays for USC this week?

You didn't watch it?

I would say it was the schemes of the defense, and the pressure...
Plus Cal's Oline look liked throw back linemen, you know the big boys coaches would go pluck off the farm....

I truly don't get the foreign market aspect. It makes sense for professional sports who are trying to gain popularity to put games or in some cases the potential for a franchise there. The Pac 12 isn't going to add another college, aren't going to be doing any more than maybe one game one of the markets. I just don't get it I guess, if the NFL isn't betting their money on those markets then why would a collegiate conference when their is no loyalty to a school and since kids are at a school for at most 4 years it seems like a massively flawed business model.

To me, the better opportunity if they partner with a Hulu, Netflix or Amazon with their streaming since they are always looking for content, made Disney quite a bit of money too.

Yep - I think a majority of the reason for this change is just a bad game on Oregon's part, whereas ASU played better than they have all year.

The amount of mistakes on the Ducks really did play a large part in the result.

Hmmmm. Deontay has more receptions, more yards, and more TDs and has come up clutch with games on the line. Is there some other stat we can gauge WRs with?

The top receiver in the conference right now actually is a running back.

WSU hasn't even played a road game yet, nor anyone with a pulse. Automatically disqualified from any conference comparative stats.

Not our fault the conference is incompetent with their scheduling by allowing Notre Dame to dictate it, and they knew that $C is on our schedule and the Pac 12 won't allow them to come to Pullman in November.

Not assigning blame, just pointing out the facts.

WSU is still a couple of weeks away from playing a road game, but they get to prove how legit they are this Friday.
