ahhh yes. I give Hoyer more credit then that.

I guess maybe that is the problem. You consider Hoyer one of the worst QB's in the NFL. I do not... I compare him to a boarderline starter/good backup.

He ends up starting wherever he goes but replaced the next year. Good enough to start, not good enough to be long term.

Not all teams carry 3 QB's but just figure 3 QB's on a team (if you don't carrry two you have one on the PS) that is roughly 96 QB's. Are some backups better then Hoyer? Ok yeah, guys like Mahomes sitting and learning. Hoyer is probably more in that 28-38 range. A bit of a cluster in that area. We are at a time when QB play is pretty low.. Ideally yes, I would want him as my backup QB. But I'd be really happy today to have him as my backup QB.

Have you seen him play around a good D and a run game?

He isn't that bad. Nor is he that good. But he is better then a lot of these QB's on NFL rosters. It's all what is set up around you. If Hoyer has to win games on his own he is screwed. If he has to come in and not lose games and manage the game he is ok. Not a long term guy, but he surely is not near the bottom of the list in terms of worst QB's in the league. Bottom of the starters, yes.... Nobody said he was great. But also the comparison wasn't to compare Siemian to the worst of the worst QB's in the NFL.

There is nothing more obvious - a lot of people missed on Siemian - he was a 7th rounder - for goodness sake. However - every personnel rule in NFL talent procurement has its exceptions.
