Agreed. He is a high quality role player. So is TT. They just have very different roles.

Tyler's job is to score and create instant offense off the bench, TT's job is to rebound and defend. Neither player is a bargain, but neither is a horrid contract either.

Yeah after the year Tyler had last year, he was at least getting 12 or 13 had he been available this summer IMO. I don't hate the contract nearly as much as I did last summer after seeing how well he played last season

And, it is a short deal right? 2 year extension?

It was a 4 year deal. 2 years where he's making 19 mil

He made 5 mil last year and getting another 5 this year. Then he makes over 18 next year and over 19 the following year so only 2 years where he's getting that crazy backloaded deal thanks to the nets. Wish the NBA allowed teams to restructure contracts once they choose to match a offer on a RFA.

Heat did fine in the 2nd half of the season. I'm willing to ride with the roster and see what they got and see if the chemistry gets better. TJ is not a valuable contract, but he's no Mozgov either; especially in a guard/forward dominated league.

You act like $12 mil per year for a player like Richardson is garbage, I say different. Better than giving Shump $10 mil per and TT $85 mil over 5.

umm, toldja he'd say different...:D

lol...sometimes DJ i think youve lost your mind

you can say what you want about those rankings--- there are some good things in them and some bad things in them

obviously Lonzo Ball where he is is a joke. Gallo as a top 45 player? gmafb

but its not like they have Steph Curry at #28.

you can be off--- but you cant be dozens and dozens of spots off

no one looked at either of those list and was like- FUCK- why did Tyler Johnson get snubbed.

I dont see one post of anyone saying TT was overated.

so sell crazy elsewhere. We are all stocked up here.

Translation = "Those rankings are crap except for the parts I agree with."

I never did believe in the power rankings by ESPN - they hate the Lakers for one and then they are dumber than Stephen A Smith

DJ,

why do you think that neither ESPN or SI had Tyler Johnson in their top 100 players?

why do you think ESPN and SI both had TT in their top 100 players at 72 and 52 respectively?

Easy answer. He plays with LeBron, so teams pretty much are forced to ignore him.
You really think he's a top 100 player if he's not on the Cavs?

As far as Tyler, give me a roster full of players who are as athletic as he is and play with that type of motor.
As described before, great at nothing, good at everything.

Heat tried to get him to agree to friendlier terms but Tyler felt he should live by the terms of the original deal.

You made him mad on that one.
it didnt make me mad its just incredibly idiotic, stupid, moronic, etc.

Just because there are other things that people dont agree with doesnt make a whole list illegitimate.

well you got the roster you want then. lol

enjoy between 37 and 45 wins and a first round knockout.

YAH!

id rather be 20-62 and have a chance at the next Dwade and have enough cap room to try and entice a big time player.

but ---- embrace the mediocrity. Worst place in the NBA is to be in the middle.

Over 21 years, the Heat have made the playoffs 17 times, been to 5 Finals and won 3 times. The Heat in the late 90's also were a contender but just couldn't get past Jordan's Bulls.

Since Riley's been in Miami, I'm okay with the Heat staying consistent in the way they've done things.

It's sad that you can only enjoy and root for your team while they're a realistic contender for a title.

you are operating under some really false assumptions here.

Wade is why you were good. Mourning is why you were good. Shaq is why you were good. Star players- big time talent.

Riley is in his 70's and doesnt have time to do it the right way anymore.

And- hey- I REALLY enjoyed watching Kyrie and the Cavs even though they sucked before LeBron got there...wish they would have done a better job on Bennett and Waiters thats for sure---- but like you said--- you gotta be able to enjoy your team even when they arent championship contenders--- only 1 team wins it every year

what bothers me is when my team is not even trying to be great and is happy being a team that maxes out at mediocre.

its just funny to me.

Cavs and Indians are both among the very best teams in basketball and baseball, respectively.

They do it in such different ways.

The Cavs do it with star power, a huge budget-- they seem to thrive on adversity. They have huge ego's on the team, in the front office etc. --- have a young head coach.

The Indians do it with a true team mentality- operate on a bottom half budget- no one has ego's--- they have the best manager in the game.

Its funny watching these 2 great, fun to watch teams- and appreciate them both- while being cognizant of how they both do it in such different ways.
