1200 points divided by 20 seasons = 60 points per. Good, but not great and the -2 is inexcusable. He played on some damn good teams and his +- numbers reflect his desire to be a factor at both ends of the ice.

Wrong... Again... Anyone who plays 1,200 games and averages a point per game is pretty fucking good, you using his +/- is stupid, that's a team stat and means almost nothing.

It's not a team stat, it's a line stat and it definitely means something. In Dino's case it means he was a one way pussy who couldn't be bothered to back check or play defense in his own end of the ice.

Dino = not underrated.

BTW, I didn't and don't dispute that he was a pretty good offensive player. He's just not underrated.

I'm about done with this, I will agree he's probably not underrated, he was a pretty damn good offensive player but you thinking +/- means something is ridiculous, it is a team stat...

Jason Zucker was a +34 this year, do you think he's a real good defensive forward? If so, what about him being a -5 last year??? Or -9 the year before??? It's a team stat, period!

+/- is one of the most useless stats in sports. Its a team stat with far too many variables. From a team mate turning over the puck,to a goalie giving up a bad goal,defensive systems,team qualityt,playing time on the PK.etc.....To equate a players individual performance on +/-. Is no different then a stat punishing everyone on the field when a QB fumbles a snap thats returned for a TD. If you look at Ciccarelli's stats compared to many of the past players people consider greats.And cross referenced with games played .As well as the attention those players received while playing with stacked teams.I would say he was under rated. But in the end its really all just a matter of opinion

He doesn't get enough love for being 1 of 19 with 600 goals.

He's in very rare company.For a player that really doesn't get the recognition so many of these past players perceived as greats receive.When you look at his stats and how high he ranks in several categories.He's actually on par or above a lot of the "greats" in several categories. What he accomplished was really quite amazing. Thats the definition of under rated imo

is he?? sometimes we have to look at Quality over quantity... He only had 2 seasons of top 10 goals, only one of them was top 5... he had 2 seasons of top 10 in points, none were top 5... He deserves his HOF, but he in no way was an elite HOFer, and therefore how can he be under-rated??

i like the stat... of course it is nowhere near the first stat i look at... but it does help analyze what type of player he was... sure there are a million and one reasons that can explain why someone's +/- is too high or too low, but you should never be using it that way anyway... it is just whether he has a good +/- or a bad +/-, and that can help you see whether a player is good with and without the puck...
