From what I hear, his back is not in very good shape right now.

I don't disagree with you at all on sitting him down. But I don't know who is gonna be the one to tell him he's sitting. Lol.

I forget the exact numbers, but MLB as a whole is on pace to destroy the record for opposite field homers this season.

LOL. OK...let's piss off the "usual suspects" some more this morning.

There have been a couple of baseball writers (their articles have been mentioned on MLB Rumors) that think there is a good chance that the Tigers will be able to move Justin Verlander at the trade deadline. Of course, they suggest that either the return will not be great, due to his contract, and/or Detroit will have to pitch in a large chunk of Verlander's $56mil he is owed in 2018-19.

I understand that many Detroit Tiger fans get anal retentive about their players....but IMO, this club needs to do everything possible to right the ship for the future. Even if trading Verlander brings the team only a couple of mid-level prospects and some salary relief....to me it is worth it. I'm sorry, but what good is an aging (35-36 over the next 2 years) pitcher with a 4.50 ERA, decreasing effectiveness, and who is owed major dollars, going to be for a rebuilding team. I'm just guessing here....but wouldn't JV want out too? LA or NY might beckon loudly to him and Kate. Perhaps he'd be willing to ''re-arrange'' the remaining two years of his contract to land in one of those Media Centers?

How you going to get a team interested in an aging pitcher with a 4.96 ERA and who is still owed $56mil for 2018-19, plus the remainder of this years salary. Getting close to untradeable.

VMart's $18mil salary for 2018 will be a big discussion in the winter. Right now, he isn't worth anywhere near that. If he does not improve THIS season....I could see Detroit swallowing his 2018 contract or, at best, swapping him for some other team's albatross.
