All I'm saying is you get your guy guaranteed, with extra cap space to further improve the roster. You act like PG going to the lakers is a sure thing, but it isn't. Things change. The Lakers shouldn't give up Ball for PG, which is who the pacers really want, but getting PG for the price mentioned is called trade r*pe. You do it if you can swing it. Clarkson and Randle are nice role players, but this gives you a chance to pick the players playing next to PG, Ball, and Lopez. Plus you get PG another year to acclimate to the LA style of basketball, which is much bigger than it seems. It would be in the best interest of the lakers to make the playoffs and do well to help attract FAs. If LA is a dumpster fire again this year without PG, the man could lose interest and go to an actual established good team. This trade could be the difference of two superstars signing with LA and none signing again.

Here is the problem though. That deal would make the Lakers better. Better isn't enough in the era of superteams. The Lakers need those assets to further improve their roster after signing George. I do not think Clarkson or Russell will be part of the long term plan. Still, you can't give up all your assets to get a guy you can likely sign in FA anyway.

If they lose PG13, it is worth the risk. Because, overpaying now almost eliminates the possibility of assembling a group capable of challenging the Warriors. They need to take some risks in order to potentially be great. Good isn't enough.

Clarkson and Randle are small parts already. You act like they could be key cogs in a championship team when they are mediocre players on a dumpster fire of a team.

Fine. They should offer them Magic, Kobe, Kareem, Phil Jackson and Mark Madsen, alone with their next three available 1st rounders.

Or they can wait for next season and get him for nothing.

You're making a lot of dangerous assumptions. This debate is going in circles and the root of it is you believing rumors you read on the internet.

Sorry, I would have phoned Magic and Kevin Pritchard directly but they're a bit busy right now.

Am I supposed to take your word over the likes of Woj and Stein?

But you, under the assumption that Indiana have full leverage, aren't?

You been drinking today?

For now i'll stick to the rumours from legitimate sports writers I read on twitter rather than anonymous poster #231552 on a message board

If Indiana had full leverage, they'd be asking for all the lakers picks this year, Ingram, Clarkson, and Randle. Why do you got to go full retard on every post you make?

I have forgotten more about NBA trades than you will ever know in your lifetime. You probably base trades off of the ones you make in 2k.

I'm not sure what the identity of the Bulls is right now and I'm certainly not sure if they are 1 player away from being Eastern champs. The East is pretty weak but dam

The Bulls identity right now is incompetent front office. As far as certainly not sure that you're 1 player away from being Eastern champs, you're correct - you're nowhere near.

Rondo and Jimmy are studs on D but offensively the Bulls are kinda sorry. I enjoyed game 1 & 2 of the playoffs and that was it all year. We did go 4-0 against the Cavs. ahhh the regular season

Regular season means dick. But you no longer have Butler so no sense in bringing him up now.

If you met Cleveland in the playoffs, the Bulls were not going to beat Cleveland in a best of 7 series.

They wanted Lonzo Ball - and Magic flat out said no - PG makes either Randle or Ingram expendable because you're getting an important piece to a legitimate contender and you don't need three forwards that start when you don't have a legitimate point guard.

On one other note - I don't think the Lakers are even thinking about creating a team that can beat the Warriors, not that they wouldn't do that if possible. Realistically, they are looking for a playoff team that can be tweaked to go the distance.

Well if they are looking to wait out the Warriors why would they even want Paul George? He'll be 30 by the time the Warrors are likely to start to diminish.

On a three year contract - chances are that George will remain just as good, and possibly five years. That's long enough to attract other super-stars and continue trading up. As I said - this is about getting to a top five team - then they will work on the championship caliber and don't forget championships have been won with a few older players in the mix.

30 is still in his prime, maybe just starting a decline, but still a very good player. Plus, he'll be playing with players who, by then, should be pretty fully developed as players. That still gives him 3-4 years of serious title contention (assuming the kids develop as expected/hoped).
