Lebron and Kyrie were drafted by the Cavs. Love was acquired in a trade.

I think if you leave and comeback as a free agent then it doesn't matter that your team drafted you 11 years ago.

I dunno. He pretty clearly wanted to come back to Cleveland to set things right. It's not it was the perfect situation. They were a lottery team the year before.

Has to make a thread bc he doesnt believe his own opinion LOL. So poll is bogus but potato salad is fucking delicious and cheeseburger are orgasmic so easy choice.

The only reason this post isn't going to the Let's Make Shit Up thread is because you are right about the potato salad and cheeseburger.

Unless you are talking about German Potato Salad. If that's the case...then this post will be moved with the quickness. :dhd:

They won 51 games. How in the world are they a super team? Because they rolled through a depleted Eastern conference playoffs?

IF they get swept in the finals, do you still consider them a super team?

They only won 51 games because they didn't give a shit about the regular season. That is evidenced by how they have rolled through the supposed "best of the East" including the #1 seed.

Do you honestly think that...1.) They would have only won 51 games if they had put any emphasis on the regular season? and 2.) They would be able to roll through the East like they have if they weren't a superteam?

Really?!?

So superteam is just another way of saying a currently dominant team? OK.

No, but having the best player in the game, 2 all stars in their prime both with championship experience and rings under their belt, a roster full of veterans that also have rings and championship/playoff experience and the highest payroll in league history sure says they are a superteam.

The Warriors seem to care about the regular season. Winning nearly 140 games in the past 2 seasons.

The Warriors had a couple of teams that were potential threats to deal with, the Cavs didn't.

I disagree on these 2. Just because they were drafted, doesn't mean they weren't superteams. It just shows that if you draft well enough (and get lucky in the lottery) you can draft a superteam instead of going the trade/FA route.

I get it. Obviously the Cavs are dramatically better than a 51 win team. I just don't get what superteam really means if they are a super team. Then the Bulls were a super team. So were the 80s Lakers. And 80s Celtics. Or the early 90s Pistons.

That's fair. I infer that you think of superteams as being really really good teams.

Again, what definition is there? It's a vocabulary word, there's no "proof" that Team X is "super" but Team Y isn't. It's just yakking, it's fun to give your take on it. Some championship teams are pretty obviously "super" like the recent Warriors. Some are obviously not like Olajuwon's Rockets or the 2004 Pistons. The rest are in the middle and you can argue either way.

Who said those teams weren't? I've said many times in these discussions that they were superteams. The league has always had superteams and some have always been "more super" than others.

Hell, those Celtics teams that won all of those titles in the stone age were superteams as well as some of the 76ers and Lakers teams from that era. The Celtics were just more super than the others.

It definitely helps if they are, but believe it or not, you can have superteams that fail miserably. Case in point...the Kobe/Dwight/Nash Lakers. :L

No way to describe that team other than a superteam that failed miserably.

Oh it's all good. There are all time great teams. The teams I mentioned above. Perhaps the Warriors. Perhaps the Cavs. The team that wins this title gets a lot closer to being one of those all-time greats.

IMO, in 20 years people will talk about this rivalry as one of the all time great ones especially because it is entirely possible we will see the same two teams in the finals next year.
