Seems like all thats missing is the Angels swooping in to grab Scherzer or Shields.

Bet on it. I'm waiting for the Rangers to make some sort of move too. Is it still too soon to panic? I know I really blew things out of proportion after all the Padres moves but then you see moves like this being made and they piss me off. We better have at least TRIED to land Zobrist or Gattis. now lets get Desmond from Nats (yeahhhh right lol)

If he isn't useful, we will Kickham to the curb. :pound:

So, I guess Kickham is what? Competing for the Joe Beimel vacancy in the bullpen as the second situation lefty after Furbush? i can't think of any other reason why they would want him.

I don't know why they didn't just bring Beimel back. At least we know Beilmel can get the job done.

what we knew needed to be addressed in a big way in the offseason:

1) lefty relief
2) an everyday 1B (both offensively and defensively)
3) a legitimate OF (both offensively and defensively)
4) a legitimate DH

my grades on Z's performance

1) D+
2) D
3) C
4) A

So I'm assuming the A grade is Cruz right? I think 3 should be another D. All we did was get a crummy platoon bandaid for the OF. Also 2 could be an F. We didn't do anything there, Morrison was already the solution for the spot but it doesn't mean they couldn't have tried to upgrade.

I'd give the Cruz signing an A if we were grading just that one move. He was the best righty power bat on the free agent market. Only guy I would have rather had was Vmart but he wasnt coming here.

The only way I could have liked the move more is if it happened last offseason like it should have. Clearly inking Cruz last offseason probably would have resulted in a playoff berth but what can you do.

If anything I'd say 1 and 2 are F's. They downgraded the lefty in the bullpen and did nothing at 1B. D is a good grade for the outfield because it wasn't really upgraded and half assed addressed since they have Jackson in CF then it appears a revolving door with LF and RF. Cruz is without question an A, but it just seems like while the Mariners upgrade at one position and stay stagnant everywhere else, their competition gets better.
