Zion Williamson has signed with CAA for his managment, he now shares the same management with Chris Paul right at a time that the Pelicans are in need for a PG that would make justice to the rest of their starting roster on Holiday, Williamson, Randle and AD as to contend...

OTOH, the Rockets made it clear that CP3 is available for a trade, but the sports analysts don't see much of interest in the market given CP3's huge contract with respect to his age...

I think a trade that would land CP3 to the Pelicans is all the more probable now... what do you think?

Curious to see what you think the Pelicans should trade for CP3 and what Houston would be happy to receive back.

I believe that the Pelicans can offer them the best that Houston can hope for... Cap space that will bring them below the lux tax for this season and huge cap space to work with for the seasons that follow.

To be more specific... Solomon Hill and E.Moore are both expiring and save some 18M of salaries from the Rockets books...

Why in the world would the Pelicans want CP3's contract?

They wouldn't.

And while Houston would be willing to trade CP3, I am not sure they are willing to sacrifice a year of possible contention for the possibilty they might be able to sign a 2020 FA to stand around and watch Harden dribble.

AD will surely be there... the Pelicans have made it clear that they won't trade him. But I believe CAA will be doing everything in their power as to achieve CP3 joining ZION now that the Pelicans are looking for a PG to add in their starting roster.
Ideally CAA should want D'Angelo Russell (who also is with CAA) to join up with Zion, but I don't believe that the Nets are prepared to loose Russell at this stage...
I won't be surprised though if Russell renews for only 3 more seasons with the Nets so that he will be a free agent by the time CP3's contract expires.

Why in the world would the Pelicans want CP3's contract?
1. They are looking for a starting PG with "prestige" and experience.
2. They can afford him easy.
3. He creates cap space for them to use in the future without ever paying lux tax.
4. They establish great relations with Zion's management
5. They become the favorites to add DA Russell next to ZION after CP3's contract expires.
6. They create huge cap space so that they can offer AD a super max and still not pay a penny in lux tax.
7. They secure a place in the playoffs for next season
8. They'll have their arena full for as long as the season lasts with CP3, Holiday, Zion, Randle & AD starting line up.

Think OP should stick to making up non-realistic trade scenarios for his own team.

LOL. Let me address point by poo t.

1: maybe
2: they can afford him if they dump Hill and Moore, but not easily
3: are you actually saying that signing a player slated to make $123 million over the next 3 seasons creates cap space for NO? LOL
4: maybe
5: nope. Free agency won't line up for CP3 and Russell.
6: Again, you don't create cap space by taking on $17 million in salary next year, and $41 million in 2020.
7: If they keep AD. And despite what you say, they aren't keeping AD beyond the trade deadline.
8: Zion alone will fill the arena.

I think Davis will stick it out with New Orleans now that Zion probably goes there, doubt CP 3 goes to the Pelicans though.

CP3 for AD straight up..

According OP, I think fair value would be AD, Holiday and 3 future 1st round picks for CP3 and Iman Shumpert.

AD will not be a Pelican next year
