Silver lining in all this is Goodell won't get his extension. The douche is done.

Watch him get a stay via an appeal, he'll be able to play, and we'll be having this same discussion a month from now

Doesn't look like the case. He was given a 24 hour stay by the judge to appeal but his options are few at this point. Pretty much came down to this (from The Dallas Morning News);

Failla agreed with previous findings, notably the "Deflategate" case involving New England quarterback Tom Brady, that courts have very narrow room to interfere with arbitral decisions.

The judge ruled that the proceedings, in their totality, accorded with the collective bargaining agreement and NFL's personal conduct policy.

Essentially, Goodell and the NFL did enough, even if it could be viewed as minimal, to cover their requirements outlined in the CBA.

Leading to this...

Katherine Polk Failla rejected Elliott and the NFL Players Association's claims that the NFL conspired against Elliott to prevent him from receiving a fundamentally fair appeal. She granted a 24-hour stay on her ruling so that Elliott, who attended the hearing Monday evening in New York, can consider appellate options in the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. But after fighting since the suspension was issued Aug. 11, Elliott has few speedy options left in this on-again, off-again battle.

If it was "good" for the league then they should have fought harder to suspend him initially. Not now. The NFL is a complete joke and truly don't care about DV, Player Safety or anything they claim to be standing for

Helmet-to-Helmet tackling which leads to CTE - 1 game
Suspicion of DV with "questionable" evidence from an unreliable witness - 6 games.

This will be Goodell's legacy.

Possibly maybe, I'm not sure deflating a football 4 game suspension and a $1 million dollar fine

Don't forget with his own investigative team recommending no suspension at all.

So Zeke is back for Raiders, Seahawks, Eagles and then hopefully some playoff football.

I hate that we lose him and his name is tarnished, but glad to have this finally being put behind us.

I don't know. The 24 hour stay doesn't do much as far as I can tell. Do you want to drag it out and try to get a favorable ruling from the same group that created the Brady ruling?

So now they lose this guy for the heart of the second half schedule. What an incredible distraction.

Zeke should have served his suspension at the start of the regular season. This is a bad time to lose possibly the best RB in the NFL.
You are absolutely correct. This will come back to bite Dallas in the end. Your schedule gets tougher and Zeke is a huge part of your offense. Risky move and it didn't pan out. Then again, this suspension was BS.

No, Jerry will bitch about it for a long time and the players will use it as motivation (I hope). I hope the motivation turns into an old fashion ass whipping against the Giants without Zeke. Just go in pissed off and ripping heads off. Hope to get to a point where it is a blowout but then refuse to take a knee or put in the 2nd stringers. Up by multiple TD's and still passing with less than 2 minutes in the game. Just bend Mara over and fuck him in his own house and in front of the world.

This is less of a distraction then the week to week question of availability.

I think there will be knashing of teeth and a lot of bitching just as there was with the Brady case... but I think the legal aspect of it ends by the time we all reconvene here tomorrow. I can't see the 2nd Court wasting their time on something they have already ruled on... which is the Commissioner's power under a collectively bargained agreement.

As a Cowboys fan... this sucks. But - hopefully Zeke learned that you can't cross swords with the Commissioner. Not under this CBA.
