That replay mostly needs to be done away with. As you can already see in this thread, even with video replay people still can’t agree on calls. “Conclusive” evidence is a crock of shit. Way too many times plays get overturned that are partial guesses or aren’t overturned when it’s pretty damn obvious. If you have to review something for more than a minute, it’s probably not “conclusive”

This take is hilariously bad.

Which gets more calls right?

Replay... by a lot

At most it was a graze, and not clear and convincing. It’s likely he got him, but not 100%

Not only do you have the glove smacking him above the knee as clear as I am looking at this laptop screen. You have the runner being the most surprised person in the building that he was called safe.

It's the equivalent of "Dude punches other dude... other dude hits the deck".

This seems like an argument you must have taken up at the time and never let it go.

First off, this is an unpopular opinion thread, says it right there in the title.

But if you watch the second video I posted, it gives a lot more angles than on the OP. It’s likely Lugo was out, but it’s not 100% IMO.

It's actually fun to watch his face when he gives up a HR in the postseason! He's all like, "Not AGAIN..."

Makes me think of that top US speedskater who always fell in the Oympics...he was getting old and had a big lead in probably his last Olympic race, but then slipped on the final turn. His wife was watching and immediately looked all pissed off and got up to leave, but he miraculously caught himself and won. Somebody had to stop her and point out that he got the gold. Dan Jansen??

Anyone that would voluntarily play for the Dodgers is icky. If you’re drafted by them or get traded to them, you don’t have much of a choice, but if you sign an extension or a FA deal, fuck you

The Atlanta Braves truly were the team of the '90s.

I wish I could agree with you, even though I was born in 91, so I wouldn't have enjoyed it much anyways, but unless you're limiting it to the NL, the Yankees were the team of the 90's.

As a Giants fan, I was very jealous of that team, especially that pitching staff. We're lucky that they were taken out of our division. The argument for the Braves is that they were excellent throughout the whole decade, while the Yankees didn't show up until 1996. Also, winning a championship involves a lot of luck. For whatever reason, the Braves were extremely unlucky in the postseason. It's really kinda crazy that they didn't win multiple World Series in the Nineties.

I just watched a documentary about the Braves last night. Something I didn't know before was that they had a deal in place to trade for Barry Bonds, but then Jim Leyland flipped out and Pirates backed out. David Justice speculated in the documentary that the Braves maybe win 4 or 5 titles if that trade goes through.

There were 9 baseball seasons in the 90s.

Braves:
-8 consecutive division titles
-8 NLCS appearances
-5 National League Pennants (out of 9!)
-1 world title

Yankees:
-3 division titles
-2 wild cards
-3 American League Pennants
-3 world titles

The Braves have a VERY strong argument.

Still stings a bit. Had the best team in baseball in ‘93, ‘96, & , ‘97.

The rest of the baseball world is really lucky that the Braves didn't win like 5 World Series in the Nineties. And they probably would've been favored in the 1994 postseason as well with the three Hall of Fame starting pitchers. Expos were ahead, but it wouldn't have been surprising if the Braves would've caught them in the end like they did in '93 against my Giants. And with the wild card in place already, it feels like a near certainty that the Braves make the playoffs even if they don't catch the Expos. That team just didn't miss the postseason in those days. That pitching staff just made it automatic. Meanwhile my Giants were relying on so many mediocre pitchers. LOL.

Looking back I realize that I never really truly appreciated how great they were when this was all happening. I thinks it's because of only winning 1 WS, but I don't think there should be any question about how great they were. Pick any of those '90s Braves team that had Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine, and put them in a tournament of all time great teams, and they would have as good of a chance as anyone of coming out as the champion.

You are spot on correct. Unreal how many chances they had to win the '91 Series. The '96 series & how they let that one go still aggravates me to this day. And then there's Eric Gregg.......
