North Alabama:

We looked unstoppable against the first two teams, but one just reentered Division II, and the other was an NAIA team ... so there's that.

Then we played Valdosta State. Looked sharp for the first quarter, going up 14 to 0, so thought we might have a rinse and repeat.

Then reality set in. Our guys started looking tired, so conditioning is a concern. We saw mistakes like snaps over the QB's head, missed tackles, and blown coverage.

The road doesn't get any easier, and this is the same Valdosta that Delta State curb-stomped.

We face Delta State in five weeks.

Positive: We have a heck of a kicker!

No brainer for me. DEFENSE! Our defense is absolutely horrible. Pass happy teams have had a field day at our expense. And I'm not sure about Casteels 3-3-5 defense. I've heard nothing but negative stuff about that scheme since day 1. We are severely undersized at most spots and it shows in our pass rush. Opposing QBs are getting entirely too much time to throw the ball. Our guys are playing hard but thank god our offense has been solid or else we wouldn't be 4-0.

I will say though that our defense has stepped up in the 4th quarter but we need to put together a full game consistently if we are to win games in the pac 12.

Oklahoma has a looooong history of its defense waking up with a sore ass after a game is finished at least twice every season. That hasn't happened this year.......yet.

And the QB play is not exactly comforting yet. Yea I know Tevor Knight set the world on fire against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl but so far this year he has been a steady "B". We are going to need an "A" performance a time or two before this year is finished to remain unbeaten.

Wide receivers: thin. We've got one guy who could start on just about any team in the land. After that? Thin.

Our secondary is full of holes. If the pass rush isn't effective, any QB could pick our secondary apart, and we don't have much of a passing game, though we do get two big time receivers back this week in Scott-Wesley and Mitchell.

I think our O-Line and running game has been great. Our front 7 has been half ass decent I guess.

Knight throws the long ball as high as a rainbow. And not in a good way like letting the receiver out run the coverage and go get it, but in a bad way where he throws it up for grabs to a spot everyone is at. He throws every one of his short balls like a bullet. It's baffles me.

Our receivers don't seem to be able to get any separation from defenders for some reason.

The Offensive Coordinator seems incapable of implementing a game plan that involves the Tight End.

Our Secondary is going to get chewed up by a real passing attack.

Other than those things, we're fine.

Inconsistent WR play after Shepard, who starts on any team in the country. Lots of talent and flashes of promise, but someone is going to have to step up when Shepard gets locked down.

Still not sold on our OC. Not sure if he's still a shitty play caller, or trying to keep the play book closed as possible while still winning for the time being.

Knight needs to throw a decent go route. He has the arm strength, but he's throwing these ridiculous rainbows. I don't get it. :noidea:

Sanchez has a tendency to get caught looking in the backfield at least once or twice a game. He needs to be more disciplined.

Linebacker. I have already mentioned that Josh Banderas WAS the worst starter in another thread.

How bad is it?

Nebraska used 7 defensive backs, three down lineman, and put Randy Gregory at Linebacker/rusher/overall wildman. No linebackers on the field.

The linebacker coach will probably be looking for a new job at the end of the year. Six or seven linebackers that have been recruited over the last three years were all rated as four stars.

Let's see what isn't concerning me?

Yeah everything is a concern. Maybe after this weekend I will have less concerns but the absolute failure in the second half against has me questioning the defense and offense.
