Metallica in 92 (I think).. right before their tour with GnR. There wasn't an opening band.

Did you mother really need to pull the death in the family card to take you out of a game? She couldn't just pull the mother card and yank you? Either way... sounds like a good concert! Except when you went back to playing your teammates and coaches will as you about the death

I have no idea man. That was over 30 years ago.

George Clinton and the P Funk All Stars in Virginia Beach, VA. 1996. I was late getting into the concert scene. First concert I was 24. Cool concert except all of the drugs going around(not dope, but the other shit).

I think of all the concerts I went to I can only name the opening bands in a couple of them.

Man, there was a period there, where The Melvins seemed to opening for everybody...I musta seen them 5 or 6 times as the opening act.

The one I remember the most was Charlie Daniel's Band opening for Eric Clapton. CDB stole the show, during Clapton's encore he had Charlie come back out and play with him, on guitar. A lot of people don't realize it but Charlie Daniel's can play the guitar, and damn good too.

Sounds like a helluva show to me.

Sounds like a helluva show to me.

It was but the best encore I ever saw was when Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band opened for Blue Oyster Cult. After BOC's encore they had the Silver Bullet Band come back on stage and together they played a 30 minute medley of 60's rock'n'roll songs.

the same for sonic youth

Lots of bands at the time showing love for their lesser-known influences. They wanted their heroes to get some exposure.. and maybe a little bank.

Best opening to a band was Rainbow, they used the scene from the Wizard of Oz and Judy Garland saying "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto. We must be somewhere over the rainbow." The word rainbow echoed for about 15 seconds and then they started playing "Stargazer."

My family has been involved with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo forever. So I was going to concertS every year starting when I was in diapers. The first concert I remember going to is the Gatlin Brothers at the Astrodome. Yeah, that really shows my age. lol

You know, I never factored that into it. That would mean I was dragged to see Reba McIntyre or some bullshit like that when I was a kid at the Dome.

Nah - I'll still say Pearl Jam.

I attended many concerts when I was young. Mostly (Meaning all) country music with my parents.

However, my first concert as a teen was the 1978 Kiss Alive II tour stop in Omaha on November 30. I believe Legs Diamond opened for them.

Oh yeah, I snuck into the Civic Auditorium to see this concert.

Same here. Captain and Tenille would have been my first counting that carowinds trip.

Creedence Clearwater Revival, San Diego 1971

CCR was my first, also, at age 12. But I saw the real deal. 1969, at the Jacksonville Coliseum. I came out of there knowing I wanted to be a drummer, and got my first set of drums that Christmas.
