Speaking of Joe Walsh...
The James Gang had a very nice run through the 70's....as did bands like...

The Eagles

Blue Oyster Cult
Deep Purple
Tower of Power
Bad Company
Chicago
REO Speedwagon
Bachman Turner Overdrive
War
Earth,Wind & Fire
Kool & the Gang

And in the late 70's....
the Cars
the Police
Cheap Trick
Devo
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Elvis songs from the 70's I would go with "Moody Blue".

If I was listing a song to describe the 70s it would have to be the Bee Gee's "Tradegy"

If I had to pick 1 song it would be Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"
All three are excellent picks.

Plastic Ono Band was the best solo album of a member of one of the most important bands in the history of music.

Blasphemy!

For some reason I just am not a Stones fan. I do love the Who. Seen them both in concert and The Who blew me away at the Cotton Bowl The Stones looked plastic at the Silverdome. Worst concert ever. I just connect with The Who.

A pretty fucking good song nobody has mentioned from 1970:

American Woman

I was no fan of the Guess Who but that song has stood the test of time and gets my foot tapping....
