Maybe where you come from but in my neck of the woods The Temptations, Ray Charles, Little Stevie Wonder and many others were just as listened to as anything that come from the British invasion.
Agree!

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison, Ram by Paul McCartney & Imagine by John Lennon are definitely in my top 25 albums of the 70's.

Plastic Ono Band was a better album than Imagine and IMO was easily a top 5 album of the decade...

Yeah, whats the phucking problem? We can't all agree on everything right?

Plastic Ono Band was the best solo album of a member of one of the most important bands in the history of music.

Impossible to pick a favorite, just fucking impossible.

This^^^^^ for me would be the most correct answer. I couldn't name just one song. Hell, I can't keep it to one genre. Some that come to mind though.

Budgie - I Ain't No Mountain from the album Bandolier in 75. Budgie is arguably the 70s most underrated and unheralded RnR band.

Judas Priest - Victim of Changes from the 79 live album Unleashed in the East, but its originally from the 75 album Sad Wings of Destiny

Scorpions - Another Piece of Meat- from 79's Love Drive

Skynyrd's On the Hunt from their 75 album Nuthin' Fancy

Gotta cheat a little here and go with Zep's How Many More Times as its from "Zep's debut album in 69. So many Zep songs to choose from, but this is the one that moves me most. D'yer Mak'er from 1973's Houses of the Holy which was the first Zep song I ever heard.

Ruth Copeland as front-woman and Funkadelic backing her up covering the Stones Gimme Shelter form her 71 album I am What I am - My fave version of this song.

George Duke's Dukey Stick from the 77 album Reach For It. If the name George Duke sounds familiar to Frank Zappa and the Mothers fans. That's cuz he played a gang of shit with Zappa.

Parliament's Starchild and Handcuffs from the 76 album Mothership Connection. Big Bang Theory from their 79 album Gloryhallstooid, Chocolate City from the 75 album of the same name. Children of Production and Gamin On Ya from The Clones of Dr Funkenstein album. Lemme stop fore I name another 20 songs from them. Just one more - Funkadelic's Maggot Brain from their 71 album of the same name.

Slave - Slide from their debut album Slave in 76

Tweenynine Featuring Lenny White and their promo song Peanut Butter from 79.

Michael Jackson's Off the Wall album from 79. A buncha songs from that could make my list, but I'll go with Rock With You.

Curtis Mayfield's Pusherman from the 72 sound track of the movie Superfly

Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man from the album named the same and from the movie soundtrack of Trouble Man all from 1972.

Bootsy Collins Hollywood Squares from the 78 album Bootsy? Player of the Year. This song and Skynyrd's On the Hunt are songs I live by to this day.

Prince's Soft and Wet from his debut album For You in 78.

Originally done by The Temptations, but The Undisputed Truth's version of Smiling Faces Sometimes on their debut and self titled album from 71.

Mics/country/pop/one hit wonders/don't know what album their from.

Cher's Half-breed and Gypsies Tramps and Thieves
Helen Reddy's Delta Dawn
Vicky Lawrence's The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia
Hot Chocolate's Brother Louie, but done/covered by The Stories
Charley Pride's Kiss an Angel Good Morning
Jerry Reed's When You're Hot You're Hot
Gordon Lightfoot's Sundown from 74.
Jim Stafford's Spiders and Snakes from 73

Pretty much anything Jim Croce ever did.

OK....................I'll stop now.

OK, I found it.
My #1 Song of the 70's.

Elvis songs from the 70's I would go with "Moody Blue".

If I was listing a song to describe the 70s it would have to be the Bee Gee's "Tradegy"

If I had to pick 1 song it would be Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

Blow by Blow - Jeff Beck

Another most excellent concert tour I was fortunate enough to attend.

I have this BluRay of him in a small club in England with his new band. Top notch. Clapton comes out for several songs, Imogene Heap does an outstanding Rolling and Tumblin.....
