TO was basically kicked off of every team he ever played for. Can you be a HOFer if none of your teams even WANT you on the field?
A HOFer in his prime does not get let go. He was causing more trouble ON THE TEAM than he was worth. Meaning he was affecting the teams chances of winning. If being a great teammate doesn't get you in the HOF then why does being a bad teammate keep you out? It doesn't make sense.

And remember...
No one argues that he is one of the greatest wide receivers ever. But even after that game, he was kicked to the curb by the eagles.Last time I checked HOF is all about numbers you put up in your career. But as @wildturkey said on another thread, it is ok to put Marvin Harrison in the HOF who probably killed someone in a shootout because he was such a great teammate on the field lol.
Harrison was great on the field. He was a great teammate. His off-field issues did not effect his football career.Last time I checked HOF is all about numbers you put up in your career. Dawkins should have gotten in. He revolutionized the safety position, has fantastic numbers across the board, and was the leader of two different teams.
A great teammate is a leader of the team, on and off the field. Ever heard of a leader in the lockerroom? They make their teammates better players. Should be a consideration for HOF beyond mere statistics. It's not the Hall of Statistics. This was Warner, even though he also had the stats. OTOH, there are players who are there to get good personal stats and are bad teammates who may actually hurt their teammates rather than make them better players. Sounds like TO was one of these players. If being a great teammate doesn't get you in the HOF then why does being a bad teammate keep you out? It doesn't make sense.
Short careers got rewarded tonight. Admittedly, I never saw Easley play, but this does open up a lot. Davis was one of the best ever, but I just don't think either had the longevity.
This isn't a Sandy Koufax situation where they are far and away better than any player who played in that time.
I'm not offended that they made it and I'm happy for them, but I couldn't have done it.
Cue Seahawks and Broncos fans teeing off on me for being an idiot.

Agreed, one of the finest safeties that I've ever had the privilege of watching play. He also retired when he was still good.
I'm afraid that 1 award just won't suffice for this post.Warner got in because he is on the NFL Network.

Owens sabotaged teams and the teams he played for could not wait to get rid of him.
Player (yrs) Tackles Sacks FF-FR INT
Brian Dawkins (16) 1131 26 37-16 37
Rodney Harrison (15) 1198 30.5 16-6 34
John Lynch (15) 1051 13 16-8 26
Troy Polamalu (12) 771 12 14-7 32
Ed Reed (13) 644 6 11-10 64
O yeah, Dawkins is the only player to have 25 FF, 25 INTs and 25 sacks. Clearly - as evident from the stats - he was an all-round player, just as dangerous in the box, blitzing as in coverage, where all the others were clearly more one dimensional.
Look at these stats, and it is clear that Dawkins ought to be the first of those to get in the HOF. I would not be surprised he will be the last.
And no offense, but Anderson getting in over a player like Dawkins (or TO) is questionable at best...
