Here are your teams that didn’t come out the region. Probably the best region that year. Twist it however you need to twist

how did couch calamari do? Lol

I'm not twisting anything. Loyola had a great tournament run, but they weren't a great team that year. It's not that hard to understand. The tournament crowns a champion, rarely is it the best team though.

Villanova was a great team that year and yes the best team Is always the one who wins 6 in a row. The tourney exposes all weaknesses. You can’t win 6 in a row unless you are a great team.

Loyola spanked a K St team that had just beat Kentucky to get to the final 4. They were one of most unselfish teams I’ve seen in years and knew how to control a game. They were good enough to go into GAINESVILLE FL that year and come out with a W on the road. Not sure Dayton has done that this year and I’m not buying Dayton is a much better or complete team. We will see

Ridiculous statement

Ok

Perfect example is Virginia. Had to be completely embarrassed as a good team to become a great team. No one rational thinks #1 seed Virginia that lost to the #16 seed was a great team.

Auburn is a top 30ish team. They aren't as good as their record reflects

Just curious as to if you actually think Virginia that lost to a #16 seed was a great team in your eyes. And if you look back I never called that Loyola squad a great team.

Just trying to understand the butthurt and face palms man. but you can certainly take your ball and go home too. Either way I’m good

Yeah. I think they were a great team. They won the ACC outright and won the ACCT. They were #1 in KenPom entering the tournament, and despite taking on that awful loss to umbc they still finished 2nd in KenPom. They were #1 in the AP poll for 6 straight weeks entering the tournament. They were also without their best player. They were 31-2 entering the tournament.

It's precisely why I don't think you should judge a team solely on how they perform in the tournament. There have been ALOT of great teams that haven't made the 2nd weekend. Upsets happen. Villanova is a classic example of this. Their 2017 team was better than their 2016 team, but the 2016 team is the one that won the title. And the 2017 lost in the R32.

I don't think you can be a great team if you barely sneak into the tournament. But that doesn't mean said team can't go on a run. It happens all the time. Especially in the last 3/4 years. To me there isn't alot of difference between Loyola and George Mason from 2006. Both 11 seeds, both made the FF. And I love the Cinderella story, which both were. Dayton is in line to be a 2/3 seed at this point. That's where the difference is.

Just as no one rational thinks Loyola was better than Virginia that year. You’re basically saying you are judging teams on one game. That is ridiculous.

So a great team lost to a #16 seed? By 20??Lol. Makes absolutely no Sense. A lot of good those stats did them in the tourney against a chump opponent.

Loyola wasn’t a great team but they were damn good. Dayton is yet tbd IMO. They haven’t beat anyone good away from home and their conference is average. They seem like a legit threat and they seem like a really good team. But great teams know how to finish and they sure as hell don’t choke against #16. First in the history of the tournament.

Now Virginia in 2019 sure. They needed to lose to become great. It’s pretty simple. If they were great they would not have embarrassed themselves in 2018 and been more discipline in their shot selection in that game and been better on D

where did I say Loyola was better than Virginia? Not Loyola’s fault that Virginia choked to a #16 seed.

Neither of those teams were great teams. Villanova was great.

Stat geeks always crack me up

“Don’t judge us on our 1 game where we choked and lost by 20 in the first round of the ncaa tourney to a #16 seed” — we were really terrific

UVA was 31-3 playing an ACC schedule. They were a great team by every metric. They got upset. Upsets happen. You can be a great team and not win a national title. It happens all the time. Unless you think there's only one great team every year, which makes no sense.

And Villanova is a horrible example.

1) they didn’t lose in the first round
2) they were going for back to back titles. Much harder to repeat after the first

First in the history of the tournament. Lmao

Virginia was a solid, good team whatever. Great defensive team that gave up 74 to UMBC and choked.

Great teams don’t choke especially in the playoffs when it’s all on the line. Cmon
