Haven’t seen them play yet. They have a little Loyola Chicago in them?

No they are much better than Loyola Chicago was a couple years ago.

So championship game material
Huh

Who knows? They might lose in the 1st round, although I doubt that. But they are still a much better team, whether they get to the FF or not.

That’s funny. Loyola won 4 games in the tourney. Really good unselfish b-ball team. Emphasis on team. Couple buzzer beaters

Obi Toppin will probably be a lottery pic. Dayton is stacked, but anyone can lose any given night.

Different teams. Dayton has an NBA player and will likely be a high seed. Loyola was a cinderella playing hot at the right time ... good draw and some luck.

Kentucky is stacked every year with NBA talent but the team doesn’t do anything. Loyola had some seniors and juniors with 2 freshman. Experienced high IQ guards that could control a game, handle the ball and they had 4-5 guys on that team could flat out shoot. Solid D and great passing as well. It is the perfect recipe for the tournament. They won their conference championship by 20+ and opened the tournament with back to back buzzer beaters.

Little luck but that team was a really good team, again emphasis on team.

I’m a full believer that at some point a mid-major is going to take the title. Butler almost did it. Loyola got close. NCAA b-ball with the one and done allows these mid majors to have team loaded with seniors and juniors aka more experience or poised in that big game situation

Kentucky has made SEVEN E8's since Calipari has been there. How is that not doing anything? They've also made FOUR FF's. It's hard to make the FF in a single elimination tournament.

Loyola was a good team, but they were also fortunate with some luck along the way. They had two buzzer beaters, played a 7 seed in the regional semi and a 9 seed in the regional final. I'm not taking that run away from them, they earned it and you can't control what happens around you. But Dayton is a much better team. You have to take into account the whole season. Not what's done in the tournament.

It would be like me saying last year's Gophers team was better than the UVA team that lost as a 1 seed because they made it a round further. That doesn't make any sense.

With all that talent at Kentucky and the elite 8?? :wank: Anyone can lose in the tourney but really good teams find a way to win.

So more emphasis on the regular season and not the tourney. :L goodness gracious that’s dumb

as far as Virginia losing to 16 seed that’s just funny really. It’s happened once and there are many reasons why that is.

Loyola took apart a very good Tennessee team that was loaded with athletes. They buried K St after K St had just took down a 1 seed.

They were complete team that beat much better talent. Why? Emphasis of the team

Calamari with 7 elite 8s and all that talent is doing jack squat. It’s exactly why the one and done needs to go. Kids are looking ahead to the NBA and don’t have the experience nor the will to win 6 games in the tourney.

UNLV has already won and they were/are a mid-major.

I understand your point. That Loyola team was a good team and this Dayton team has still many games to play, but on pape3r, the Dayton team has more talent, possibly the player of the year.

yeah but UNLV was loaded with NBA talent and the one and done wasn’t in college b-ball so that’s in a different catagory.

this could be the year for it tho

Loyola was an 11 seed for a reason. They didn't even have the resume worthy of getting an at large had they lost in their conference tournament. Yes, they played great in the tournament.

And no, it's dumber to put more emphasis on a single elimination tournament because anything can happen in a 40 minute game. What you've done over the course of 30-33 games is much more indicative of what you really are as a team. Also, K St didn't beat a #1 seed that year.

Loyola was a good team, just not better than this Dayton team. Honestly it isn't that close.

Here are your teams that didn’t come out the region. Probably the best region that year. Twist it however you need to twist

how did couch calamari do? Lol

Lol at focus on the regular season to judge a team. Crunch time in March is what every team will be judged on.
