I do think the actual player evaluation matters. Titans chose to invest in pass rushers instead of AJ Brown. Eagles wisely jumped on that.

Yah but the Titans are currently retarded. We can't compare them to normal football criteria and standards.

I was going to go with cursed. They've routinely invested in OL, DL and QB. OL coaching. Still the worst team.

Just how desperate is this town? Every town claims to be desperate until you ask them for more money. :noidea:

Win the trenches & win the game.
Always best way to build your foundation of a team is through the draft.
Sprinkle in Free Agency.
If you have a chance at a Generational player always draft them. (barring a couple positions)
OL & DL are keys (win the trenches)
If you have a chance to get a franchise QB & dont have one. Go get him.

Personally I would attempt (depending on availability) building from the inside out of the team 1st.
I know WRs are sexy, but tons of them out there.
Control the middle of the field & control the game.

If there was a strong franchise QB in the draft class I would take him with the #3 pick, if there wasn’t I would trade that pick in exchange for more picks and focus on building the team in other areas and then drafting the franchise QB in the next draft. If you have a team that’s lousy all around and you have a top 5 draft pick but there’s not a franchise QB in the draft, I think you should usually trade that pick unless you really love a particular player in the draft class.

Easily go through the draft. Grab your QBoF and if one isn't there than go BPA on either side of the line. Save that cap space when need that key piece to add that gets the team into SB contention in a couple of years.

I’m doing everything I can to build through the draft. I’m building a coaching staff/front office full of people I think will be hot commodities in the future to get more draft picks. I’m bringing in value FAs that might get plucked when their contracts are up for more draft picks. If we aren’t contending, I’m shipping out trades to net more draft picks. I’m investing heavily in scouting and player evaluation. I’m identifying teams I think are on the downhill with poor management and attempting to get their early draft picks via trade.

As Bill Belichick has always professed:

Offense wins games.

Defense wins Championships.

Ask Patrick Mahomes. Chiefs barely got wins throughout 2024, but were able to hold off teams and kick six winning FGs in the last ten seconds of those games. They got mauled in the Super Bowl and all of the weaknesses were exposed.

KC has $5,381,000 in cap space and Reid has said that he will be letting players go so that the Chiefs can restructure the trenches. Problem is that there are no bargain basement players out there. Free Agency will be limited and the players and their agents know it. The Chiefs can immediately dump Thuney and Kelce and add $27M to the cap. $32M and a promise to make the playoffs?

Rewrite Mahomes $66M contract for the fourth year in a row? Eventually, the bill has to be paid.

If it is this draft I am probably I don't see the draft for a rebuild. Cam Ward likely gone 1, Sanders is not the guy I want. I am loading up on oline in draft and FA to put everything in place for a qb next year.

If I come away with Trey Smith and Will Fries, trade back for one of the tackles like Banks or Campbell, use the capital from to move back into first for Grey Zabel I am confident in my oline for the next 4-5 years.

All that comes with a lot of what ifs and maybes though. Would be what I attempt however.

Problem with your plan is that most of the league needs O-lineman......

But in this scenario I have 90 million! It is for sure a long shot, even if I ended up with one from the draft and one from FA if is still a very solid foundation.

Hell Lions have a stacked oline and I am hoping they Sign Smith and draft Zabel. Every off season should be building more of the oline imo.

Actual stat: Treylon Burks has fewer touchdowns, one, than AJ Brown has Super Bowl appearances, two, since the Titans chose to trade instead of pay Brown and draft his supposed replacement with a first round pick.

Lets say you just bought an NFL team that hasn't been relevant since the early 2000's.
The town that you purchased this team in is so desperate for a winner that you have two serious options:
Cap space of $90 million, and the 3rd pick in each round of that years draft with 8 picks total. ( two picks in the 4th round)
Offense was 22nd last year, passing was ranked 24th with a QB over 33 years of age and and oline that averages the age of 31 years old.
Defense was ranked 25th with a passing ranking of 30th in the league.

Two options listed in the poll, tell us your option and tell us how you would turn the team around?
Is this a trick question? Why can't I both spend the $90M I have on free agents and also use my draft picks? $90M front loaded gets you about 10 All Pros.

If a consensus top 6 pick QB is available at #3 it would be insane not to grab him, or trade the pick for a king's ransom. Assuming there isn't a QB option at #3 i'd take a WR or DL/edge. Failing that I trade the pick. There's no point trying to get a HoF LT on an aging offense without any stars. With any other pick #11 to #50 i'm looking for BPA at a high salary position - QB, WR, DL/edge, or LT if needs must. After pick 50 it's pure BPA and i'd overstock a position if the Draft falls that way. I wouldn't be a high spender in free agency. I'm looking for above average starters or quality back-ups but only at value prices. Wasting resources isn't going to help.

You have to put values on potential top 50 picks and make value decisions. If you think there's a big drop off in the talent after #9 you make sure you're not picking #10 through #15, or until talent availability meets pick value. At the bottom end of the roster i'm signing UDFAs or late picks that could develop over 2 seasons rather than cheap retread vets who will be gone after a year. This is a general outline. It's not flashy. I want to develop a young cheap team over 2-3 seasons and then take risks when I have 10-7 talent.
