The next great pitcher from Japan should be posted this winter and many teams are already scouting him...

He'll be 25. In seven seasons he's 71-29 with a 1.77 ERA... 945 k, 208 bb (4.54 k/bb)...

Maybe I'm wrong but to me it always seems like the Japanese pitchers coming to MLB kind of underperform compared to expectations. Outside of Ohtani I can't remember too many. Hideo Nomo had a good run but who else is there? Kikuchi is Ok I guess

Yu Darvish has been pretty good too but yes very few have been top level pitchers for very long

Forgot about him. I guess part of it is they come into mlb a little older than a pitcher that came up through the draft. And some of them may have a lot of innings on them from the Japanese league.

Small sample size but I'd take Kodai Senga on the Cardinals in a heart beat, so there's another one. 3.3 bWAR, 2.9 fWAR, 132 ERA+ with 2 of the nastiest pitches in MLB right now

The one I'm excited about the most is Roki Sasaki. The kid has dominated the Japanese pro league for 2 years at 20 and 21 years old. Injury put a damper on this season and he's been sidelined since July but he's still 2nd in the league in strikeouts with 30 less innings than the leader

Every Mariners pitcher that has come over has done really well at first then sucked. Could be wrong but that is how most Japanese pitchers have been where they have a good run at first then became AAAA pitchers.

It is getting close... Early estimates of $200m now seem about $100m too low...

Mets and Yanks are online faves, but I'm still hoping for a Yoshida reunion...

I fully expect him to sign with the doggies or the Spanks. Outside shot for the Sox.
