I am just now reading that the Astros were actul serious bidders on Tanaka, coming in at some point over $ 100 mil.

Lucky for them that it did not fly. Can you imagine the clubhouse, with both Tanaka and the team having to discuss and justify one player making many times more $$ than THE REST OF THE TEAM, COMBINED.

I have a whatever attitude towards the players contracts. after so many years of hearing how the Yankees are ruining baseball (starting with Howard Cosell in Reggie's three HR game).
