I'd rather give that rotation spot to Justus Sheffield. Young lefty prospect. Re-sign Happ, sign Corbin, call up Sheffield.

I'd like to see Sheffield earn a rotation spot. I'm not for "giving" him squat. This way, Yanks aren't forced to.

Corbin is projected for a 6 year, $129 million contract. He's had two above average seasons in his entire career

Agreed, but the trend is good, and he's a lefty.

IMO, he's more important for them to sign than any of the more ballyhooed FAs.

WHY?!?!?!?!

Depth and veteran leadership. Chances are he'll pitch early in the season and be replaced later in the year by younger guys.

Speaking of the more ballyhooed FA's, nice of Boras to mention that Harper's been working at 1B.

He knows he's got to get the Yanks involved. Hate that f*cker.

The problem I gave with giving massive money to a starting pitcher is that the whole philosophy behind pitching staff strategy is in flux right now. For all we know, 'openers', rather than 'starters', may become the new norm. 6-7 inning starters may very well become another baseball tradition that goes extinct.

I hear you-but it's still not often that a 28 year old lefty with his skill set comes available for just cash.

I want him bad. :)

Don't be stupid....the Yankees were 0.06 away from having the 3rd best team ERA in baseball, and here you are trying to give the impression that they have some mediocre staff

Red Sox 2018 - 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 3.04 K/BB
Yankees 2018 - 3.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 3.31 K/BB

I guess Boston's pitching ain't all that good either.

Shut up, dumbass.

Even if MLB does transition to "openers," they're still going to need guys that can pitch 5+ innings a game unless they increase roster space.

How dare someone use statistics that record what actually happened to show that the viewpoint of an ignorant and homerish fan is skewed.

I kinda think they are going to increase roster space. The owners will probably wait until the next CBA and use it as a negotiating ploy with players. But the truth is that MLB uses a higher percentage (40%) of players on their roster in game situations than the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLS so there is definitely an arguement for season-long roster expansion.
