None of those pitchers would take a low risk 1-year, $8M deal.

No, but instead of wasting $8M on a 9-7 pitcher who was only able to get past the 6th inning in 4 of his 29 starts, use that money towards a deal for a younger, improving free agent pitcher with good years ahead of him.

Terry just knee-jerked based on Sabathia's age and doesn't want to backpedal now, so he's grasping at different stuff. He probably didn't even know how effective Sabathia has been until this morning.

What gave you the idea that I was backpedaling? I didn't like it when it was announced and I still don't like it.

You do know that the Yankees will be going after Corbin?

I get that. I don't like the signing. Sabathia declined from last year and he's gonna be 38 when next season starts. I don't agree with signing him on for another year.

$8MM on 150+ innings of 120 ERA+ ball is "wasted money."

That's kind of the norm for #4-5 starters....you aren't seeing those guys throw 7 innings per start. Hell, we rarely see even #2 starters do that.

You're expecting a #4-5 starter to throw 220 innings and win 15+ games for some reason. Last year's World Series teams for instance (LAD and HOU) had a total of 6 pitchers throw 140+ innings in the regular season if you include Verlander's time with the Tigers.

Nothing. You're not backpdealing. I said you weren't. You should, but you're not.

Sabhathia is not the yankees problem. Their problem is that they are trying to emulate the late 70s Red Sox teams, they hit a lot of home runs, but they don't really do anything else all that well. They remind me of my softball team.

Sababthia
2017: 148.2 IP - 3.69 ERA - 122 ERA+
2018: 153.0 IP - 3.65 ERA - 120 ERA+

The wheels fell off!

CC is declining while Corbin is on an incline. CC had 5 fewer wins and 2 more losses in 2 more starts this year compared to last year.

Don't be stupid....the Yankees were 0.06 away from having the 3rd best team ERA in baseball, and here you are trying to give the impression that they have some mediocre staff

Red Sox 2018 - 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 3.04 K/BB
Yankees 2018 - 3.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 3.31 K/BB

I guess Boston's pitching ain't all that good either.

It's his last year. For $8M and for what he's meant to the club over the years, and for the depth it should provide it's worth it.

If they don't re-sign Happ and don't sign Corbin I will have a completely different opinion.

I'd rather give that rotation spot to Justus Sheffield. Young lefty prospect. Re-sign Happ, sign Corbin, call up Sheffield.

Well I just showed you statistically how Patrick Corbin beat CC is various statistical categories.
Corbin is projected for a 6 year, $129 million contract. He's had two above average seasons in his entire career
