Source: Yankees bring back CC on 1-year deal

The New York Yankees have reached an agreement to bring back veteran pitcher CC Sabathia on a one-year, $8 million deal, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

The 38-year-old lefty has played the past 10 seasons of his 18-season career with the Yankees.
Sabathia went 9-7 with a 3.65 ERA in 29 starts last year for a 100-win New York club that lost in the American League Division Series to the Boston Red Sox.

hes still effective, and thats why.

We need to be more effective in our rotation. We can't rely on CC's 9 wins and 3.5 ERA to get us any further next year than what we were this year.

Penny pinching Yankees love his price tag. While cashman doesn't win championships anymore, he does know how to save a buck.

We need youth in our pitching staff, not old and fat hasbeens lol

We also need guys who can pitch and isn't scared of NY.

CC never been the yankees problem. He does the job for the 4th/5th guy in the rotation

I would've rather used the money used to sign CC to a 1 year deal to give it to Kluber or someone else.

Kluber isn't a free agent. Only way Yanks can acquire him is via trade so signing CC to a small deal doesn't change that.

Oh shit, I thought this was his FA year. I guess his extension was 5 years, not 3 years.

WHY?!?!?!?!

Because $8MM for a lefty that's averaged 160 innings and 11 wins over the last three seasons with a 3.76 ERA & 117 ERA+ is a hell of a bargain.

You know which team wouldn't jump at that deal?

None of them.

Dios mio. "Why?" lolz

Use that money to sign an aging vet who's best years are behind him or use that money to sign a younger, free agent who could be in their prime?

$8MM would only get you a couple months of Kluber, and that amount isn't going to prevent a team like the Yankees from signing someone.

Above average value in today's market. Lots of teams would have taken that deal with Sabathia, including the Red Sox.

I would've rather the Red Sox taken that deal lol

Yeah, because the Yankees are hamstrung by tight finances. . .

Bro, do you even baseball?

I would've rather used that money to sign Kuechel, Corbin or Eovaldi instead.
