What? Fournette already showed it's all meaningless to him. You play the regular season to get to a bowl or into the playoffs. That bowl, no matter how small is still a postseason victory that I know damn well both teams want to win, especially with jobs on the line. Again, I get where he is coming from I just can't respect that decision.Wow. Now here is one fan who didn't deserve the pleasure of watching Fournette play for LSU.
It'd been a quiet bowl seasonWow.
I ain't even upset he's not playing and he plays for my team.
He's been nicked up with an ankle all season. Guice has been running it better than him anyway.
I think people bitch just for the sake of bitching...
Wow.

It's the general idea that's disgusting, not just your case. Same with McCaffrey. It's the precedent and appearance.Wow.

The Dallas O-line may very well be the best in the NFL. They are damn good.Tell that to Dallas.
Exactly. After what happened to Jalen Smith last year I don't see the issue. Why risk tearing your ACL or Achilles for some exhibition game? I don't think anyone would ever sit out a playoffs game but meaningless bowl games when you know you're a lock for a 1st or 2nd round pick? Why the hell not.
have to disagree. What if player X has a career ending injury in the last regular season game of the year? How is that any different?? What if player X was already projected to be the #1 pick in the draft then gets injured in say, the OSUvs.mich. game? Should players start saying, I've already shown what I can do, I'm projected to be #1, I'm going to sit out the last game, no the last 2 games, no the last 3 games to insure I'm healthy going into the spring draft? Where will it end? My point is, this "thinking" could reach well beyond bowl season......
We are opening up a can of worms here that will be destructive to my CFB addiction..... and I don't like it. Take away my fix, and there will be hell to pay.
I would also like to say that I understand Fournette has been injured, and I give him somewhat of a break on this whole thing, however, we are getting into players that are completely healthy, saying they are not going to play.
Now, I would also give a pass to Deshaun Watson, I'd hate to see him get hurt and ruin his draft stock. So give that some thought DW...... you could be top 5, do you want to risk that?
I'm thinking this could very well turn into a slippery slope. Once teams know they are "eliminated" from playoff contention, (such as a 2-5 team after week 7) what's to keep a player that is expected to be a very high draft choice from saying "fuck it", I can't risk my financial future by risking injury.
Does this count as barking?
I'll probably watch that game.
You're clearly missing the point. Regular season games you are still playing for something. If you're not in the playoffs, the bowl games are a pointless exhibition game. Comparing this to Michigan/OSU when a spot on the playoffs is on the line or you have a chance to prevent the other team from making playoffs is completely different. Who gives a fuck about the Sun bowl or whatever bowl LSU is in
Can you blame them?
you could have the best LB in CFB playing for a 3-9 team. What if he gets hurt in the 4th quarter of the last regular season of the game???? Agents be sayin', damn shame, you would've gone 1st round. my point is, it doesn't matter if its a bowl game 4 weeks after the last game. What if players start saying, shit, I ain't going to risk it, and simply not play, or fake and injury to sit out. its a valid point. What the difference in my example to the 'pointless exhibition game"?
