You are right as long as the team has the cap space to make the move. So there is that hurdle.Granted this is all speculative, but saying that he's not worth a 7th to the Patriots is a bit much. I don't think there's a team in the league that wouldn't give up a 7th rounder to add him to the mix. The risk on that move would be basically non existent.
Unless I am not fully understanding the rule all I have to do to take him off the practice squad is put him on my 53 man roster. QUOTE]
I have Fauria TE; Riddick RB; Fuller WR; Moore QB; Hepburn LB; Keyton C; Miller RB; Wilson WR on the practice squad as of today and would not be all that upset if one was plucked from the PS. Remember we got a 7th round pick for Miami stealing Lydon Murtha from our practice squad. I would take a 7th for any of those guys if I was forced to give them up. Risk vs. Reward.
I too was certain we would not pay Bryant Johnson $3M after his stellar 417 yd and 3 TD season but we did. He's a $1.5m hit this year which is expensive enough for the crappy production we will probably get but there isn't a snowball's chance in hell we are going to pay his $3.5mcap hit in 2014.
I would trade Scheffler for some pipe screens right now.
My bad, TY was mid meltdown, and Nate was out for the year. He definitely wasn't brought in to get less looks than a PS guy like Durham.

I think you're operating on some bad info on this one. Teams don't get a damn thing in return if a player is plucked off of their practice squad...
Well that sucks then...I just remember us getting a compensatory pick the year Murtha was swiped and assumed that pick was because Murtha was signed.I think you're operating on some bad info on this one. Teams don't get a damn thing in return if a player is plucked off of their practice squad...
Maybe the Seahawks blew that pick because it was originally Detroit's 4th round pick that was traded to Seattle.Durham was a 4th round pick by the Seahawks...

We got a 7th this year for Drew Stanton I believe...
Yes we did...my point was that we got a 7th rd compensatory pick in 2010 and I thought it was for Murtha at the time, but looking at it, we got it just so that there were 256 picks in the draft, not for Murtha. We got a 7th this year for Drew Stanton I believe...
