Scheffler is more a receiving threat like Gronkowski and Hernandez...albeit not as good...than Ballard. Not that I would not want Ballard. Scheff has tools and the Patriots are a win now team.

I doubt the Pats would be willing to make any move preferring to wait until camp cuts in hope to get a Kellen Winslow type but I would have no problem dangling Scheffler out their. Not only a pick or player would help but considering where the TE group is he gives salary cap relief. Just my 2Cents

Personally -- I don't think the Lions would even get a 5th rounder for Scheffler. If they could, I would be completely fine with that.

I guess I have an inflated idea of what Schefflers value is. I was thinking late 3 or 4th for him. I get Furia is unproven but I really think he will be tough near the goal line with his length. jump ball left CJ! Jump ball right Furia!

Tony Sheffler for Jerod Mayo, sounds like a winner to me.

I was thinking about Mayo when I wrote that but I thought it was just too damn stupid to put out there. Good show thunder!!

If it'd been this year, not only could we have replaced Peterman, but also Ravioli. A secondary option "deep threat" tight end who's not much of a blocker whatsoever Id gladly exchange for that. I also don't like the guy in the first place...

Isnt that what Fuaria is?

Scheffler has talent and I think the thing Brady does better than any QB in the league is exploit defenses in matchup problems. Gronkowski and Hernandez were very good but without Brady they are Kellen Winslowesque. So I think Brady could really help Scheffler and Scheffler Brady.

I'm not following OL. I think Fauria could replace TS without a huge step back in production. (Less super-gay dancing I'd hope) But I was getting at dealing Tony for a pick, then using that pick on a center.

Back when Scheffler was actually traded, the Broncos got a fifth rounder for him. But gave us their seventh along with the dance machine himself.(Ernie Sims deal) He was only 27 then though...

I wish! Mayo is a machine, I'd love to have him.

I'd give them Scheffler, next years 2nd rounder and a 2015 3rd rounder for Mayo without so much as a second thought...

I like scheffler.....better than a 3rd rd pick? Depends who we drafted.....a punter? QB? WR? RB? ........only the lions would do that. So keep him!!!! Besides i like his swagger!

No need. Gronk is a beast on any team, not just ours. Health is a concern but if he is healthy for the playoffs we're fine. Below him we have Ballard, and below him a couple other serviceable options. I'm not sure i give up a seventh for him. I just don't see that strong of a need. I'm comfortable with what we have.

Scheff is a far better receiving TE than Ballard, and he fits the "joker" role better than any options New England has right now.

I'm not saying he is bad. Just that even with Hernandez gone tight end is not a position worth giving up a pick for at the moment.

Neither was RB, yet along came Blount for a good price, and now he's a Pat.

It's far more about value than need. If he's good enough to be the #2 TE and comes along at the right price then it makes sense to pull the trigger.

Granted this is all speculative, but saying that he's not worth a 7th to the Patriots is a bit much. I don't think there's a team in the league that wouldn't give up a 7th rounder to add him to the mix. The risk on that move would be basically non existent.

Scheffler is a luxury. A TE that splits out and creates a mismatch. But he is only so valuable. He has not been a Gronkowski or Graham. I would think he has not even been a Graham.

If someone wanted Scheffler then I think the Lions should deal him. Considering a 4th rounder is hit or miss I can't understand how a guy with a proven track record is less a commodity.

Scheffler was dealt for a 5th round pick when he was 27. He is now 30 and in the last year of his contract -- I don't see how anyone would trade a 4th rounder for him. I think people are overvaluing Scheffler's worth. He is a guy who will get you 30-35 catches and around 400 yards. Only way I see the Lions trying to unload him is to save themselves the 2 million owed to him. He does fill a need for the team, as Pettigrew doesn't run deeper routes and is more of a safety valve/extension of the running game.

IF the Lions could get a 4th rounder for Scheffler -- I hope they would make that deal in a heartbeat.

Shane Vareen is going to fill in for Hitman Hernandez just fine, and my keeper team is going to flourish because of it.
