Would you be mad if new GM drafted a C or G in mid rounds?

The new GM will be under scrutiny early on without a doubt around here. I'm taking the approach that he needs to be able to build with what he and a new coach or if it's Caldwell feel are right. Will you see his vision in one draft? Prolly not.

Mayhew made many draft blunders. He hit a few, but missed in many. So if the new guy see's a recent pick as a blunder. Should he be scrutinized for thinking he's fixing yet another blunder?

No position would upset me with the first draft. He needs to make it his team, and if he feels the options we have on the inside are inadequate we have to give new GM the benefit of the doubt. All that pick would mean is he did not agree with Mayhew, which is not hard to justify

I for one am not opposed to getting another C in round five with the Fairley comp pick.

I might be overreacting with Swanson and his bad line calls due to Lombardis ungodly fucked up scheme. The calls do seem better with JBCs newer blocking scheme. I hated Riaolo's blocking, but will still to this day defend how good he was on protection calls.

Got a good chuckle on that last statement. However all so damn true.

Big time. We need D. Our +/- this year on O is almost identical to last year, whereas our +/- on D is 15 this year to 27 last year. We need playmakers on D.

you would be upset if a 5th round pick was used for another C ?

I would like to see first 4 rounds on defense myself but I know many like to see flip flop on picks for defense and offense. I would have no problem spending a pick on a center in the 5th round if that's what the new GM and coaching staff think.

My main focus for this draft is a starter caliber LDE and DT then onto a SS, CB, OLB, ILB,

I'm talking later rounds Rob. This new guy hits on defensive impact players in 5th round this early I will get wood.

I spent money on Okung in my GM seat to free up top 3 picks for defense already. I see some money being spent on FAs on the defense anyway.

Give me five minutes and I will change my vision again. Had about 6 this week already.

Truly anything we speak of is all for not really all winter. That's at least until we see what Smitty's GM X does with FA signings.

Those signings will decide the oath for the draft.

C'mon now. You know I only read the headline before rushing to judgement and posting. Classic Swarm.

Gaurd- yeah.

Center- no.

It's not like we'd be seeing it in the first. Or even the second. I'd assume.

Since I was pissed last year when it happened. I'm pretty sure I would be pissed this year as well.

Gotta ask if there is a plan here with this, or why these thoughts?
The Gaurd portion would piss me off on account of having drafted BigLar, Tomlinson and to a lesser extent Swanson the last three years. (Or is two?). I hear Ya on BigLars injury issues. But he's young, and long winded, he should rebound. (I'm refracting light with water droplets there.)

Center.... Well, I have my fantasy on how Swanson doesn't start there next year. But thing need to happen before than can happen. And that has to happen before I reveal my fantasy. (There isn't any lace involved, I'll say that much.)

Thanks for answering, is there a cure for skittle pox?

Your reply here is kinda why I started the thread. With that many resources used on said positions whether it be starter or backup I'd see how you feel after Mr. X taking another. You have stated the same stance on the DT position.

My stance on the DT position is a little more elaborate and a lot more angry.

And despite efforts to contain and inoculate it, there's no known cure for those darned SkittlePox, that I know of.
