Duffy is washed up. Era in 2018 and 2019 was close to 5. He won’t win more than 6 games. They signed Duffy who nobody else wanted to a minor league contract and they’re going to put him in the rotation.
Hard to understand isn't it?

Yeah, between Jung getting hurt and Seager getting hurt, Duran will log a lot of games on that side of the infield.

From Jeff Wilson:
The Rangers were pleased with Winn’s winter performance and also encouraged by how he handled being thrown into a new environment. Winter ball is a different best, and so is being in a country where you don’t speak the language.

Winn had to think on his feet, and he had to pitch well or else risk being cut by Caguas. He also got to pitch somewhere else besides Rock Rock and the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

“It was just a mentality shift for him,” vice president Ross Fenstermaker said. “It’s two years going now, but everything, every indicator that we have in terms of our metrics and everything we value suggest that Cole Winn has major-league ability. I think he just needs to refine that and continue to attack the strike zone and get over the hump. We think Puerto Rico might be a catalyst for that.”

From Evan Grant :

The housing market on this side of the desert is tough. Not many rental properties unless you are a retiree. Especially if you are barely 22. Hard enough to rent a car at that age, much less a house.

It’s nice to have a helping hand.

Which is why Josh Jung, a relative relic in his fourth big league camp at age 26, procured the phone number of the new phenom, Wyatt Langford, and offered him space at his spring training house. They are now officially spring roomies.

“I know what it’s like in your first camp,” Jung said Friday morning. “You can feel intimidated. It can be pretty isolating. I wanted to bridge the gap as much as possible. I wanted to be the first guy to reach out, kind of that first friend.”

From Jeff Wilson:

An MRI exam showed a only mild strain in Josh Jung’s left calf, an injury that manager Bruce Bochy said will keep third baseman out three weeks.

From Jeff Wilson:

The left-handed hitter doesn’t buy into the notion that he can’t hit lefty pitchers, though his numbers in the minors suggest that they have been a struggle. He was 0 for 10 in majors in September, which rates as too small of a sample size.

“Good lefties in the minors don’t exist; they’re all in the big leagues,” Carter said. “For me, in my head, I know I can do it.”

He’s going to get the chance this spring, manager Bruce Bochy said.

“When you’re 20 years old, you probably haven’t seen a lot of left-handers,” Bochy said. “He’s going to see some lefties here this spring. It’s going to be good for him. He’s such a talented kid that it’s just a matter of getting reps there.”

Bochy says Carter has not seen enough good lefties in triple A to derermine whether or not he can hit them. Bochy thinks he will get a chance to find out.
